I'm another one who saw the thread title and thought, do they not know about the BBQs? Sorry!

Chilldonaldchill · 25/07/2021 10:41

OP do you intend this to be pronounced Webber?
It's totally not my style but, if it's spelt Webber, then there will be no confusion about pronunciation and I don't think it would be perceived as particularly weird.
I think it's the German spelling here that's causing most of the issues.

@Classica

Gerry Weber

My mother's favourite clothing brand.

Lol, my mother’s too.
Spanielstail · 25/07/2021 09:48

Please don't saddle a child with a silly name like that.

RevolutionRadio · 25/07/2021 09:46

BackforGood · 24/07/2021 21:21

Which country will he be growing up in ?
As that might make a difference.

PattyPan · 24/07/2021 21:07

As a German speaker, I think it’s weird. It will get mispronounced and misspelt, probably Spider-Man jokes too.

Ifixfastjets · 24/07/2021 20:43

Zilla1 · 24/07/2021 14:16

Not entirely egotistical - I think only one of his seven? daughters got a George name (Georgetta?). No Georgina's, Georgies or anything. Practically restrained.

Classica · 24/07/2021 12:49

His five sons are George Jr., George III ("Monk"), George IV ("Big Wheel"), George V ("Red"), and George VI ("Little Joey").

Nothing egotistical and weird there! Grin

topcat2014 · 24/07/2021 12:49

We buy industrial electronics from a German company called this

HangingBasketFuchsia · 24/07/2021 12:46

Didn't he call all his kids George too?!

SillyBub · 24/07/2021 12:45

Movinghouseatlast · 24/07/2021 12:41

ChickenSchnitzel · 24/07/2021 12:39

Second thought is your DH German?
Third thought it will be forever mia spelt and mis pronounced.

jonkersdeplonkers · 24/07/2021 12:34

German sociologist to me too I'm afraid!

percheron67 · 24/07/2021 12:29

Good name for a Weimaraner.

mrsnibblesisahero · 24/07/2021 12:11

A PR agency

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 24/07/2021 12:05

Don't do it. It's a (not uncommon) German surname and brand name.

beingsunny · 24/07/2021 12:02

Like the BBQ?

hawkehurstgang · 24/07/2021 12:00

As in, Max Weber?

It's not a name? It's a surname.
