What do you think of Kit? I think it's pretty damn handsome (Harrington vibes!) but some have said it sounds wet! Help x

Forgot to say she actually arrived on Christmas Day at dinner time! If a he would definitely have been Gabriel.

NewlyGranny · 20/07/2021 20:01

First rule of name choices is that there's always someone who will try to put you off your choice!

I wanted to call no 3 Gabriel (baby was due Dec 22nd) but DH said over his dead body. I was prepared to go the distance for my choice, so perhaps it was lucky baby returned out to be a girl. Gabrielle did not appeal, because of the likely Gabby shortening.

Also think the phrase ‘wet’ gets thrown about far too much. What’s it even supposed to mean? Every second post on here I see names getting classed as wet. I’d go for it and when I considered using it I was planning to go for Kit on the birth certificate because I wasn’t keen on Christopher. Still might be our second childs name if it’s another boy

HPLikecraft · 19/07/2021 19:46

I love it!

coodawoodashooda · 19/07/2021 09:45

Maybe you can!

brittleheadgirl · 19/07/2021 09:37

@coodawoodashooda

Omg. Am i the only person who thought of Knight rider's car?
No! Grin You can't name a baby after David Hasselhofs car!! Or can you?!
CasaBonita · 19/07/2021 08:48

I like it.

I don't like Christopher/Chris at all so definitely wouldn't use that.

Violetlavenders · 19/07/2021 08:23

Kit is short for Kitty 🐈‍⬛ cat imo.

Or PE kit, Rugby Kit or get your Kit off.

I do like Christopher and Chris.

peaceinourtime · 19/07/2021 08:22

I like and even if used as a nickname for Christopher men in their adult/professional lives still go by Kit

Theoldwoman · 19/07/2021 07:40

As in Kit Kat? I prefer Kate or Katharine.

PurpleFlower1983 · 19/07/2021 06:59

I like it but I could never use the full name so wouldn’t use it.

ODFOx · 18/07/2021 23:57

It's a diminutive for Christopher. Register Christopher and then call him Kit. If he doesn't like it when he's older he can change it to one of many others . We had a Beth who chose Lizzie in her teens but regressed to Beth n her 20s. It's a right of passage to rejuvenate your name 🙂

sarah13xx · 18/07/2021 23:24

Yes yes yes! Would have been our baby’s name if my partner would have agreed on it

user1493494961 · 18/07/2021 22:15

I like it, I don't think it's wet (I would say Rupert' s wet).

Nextchapterofmybook · 18/07/2021 22:11

Kit Kat mmm. Or kitty cat. Not the most masculine of names.

mobear · 18/07/2021 21:56

I wanted to call our son this (short for Christopher) but DP did not like it.

JaninaDuszejko · 18/07/2021 21:40

Only as a NN for Christopher. And the only one I know is an arse so frankly Tim is better (I work with a decent Tim).

wishawish91 · 18/07/2021 21:36

I love it but also love Kit Harrington 😂

Nohomemadecandles · 18/07/2021 21:36

I'm all around you Michael

I don't mind it, to be fair. His peers won't get that reference

ImbarbaraB · 18/07/2021 21:35

@coodawoodashooda

Omg. Am i the only person who thought of Knight rider's car?
Snap 🙋🏻
ImbarbaraB · 18/07/2021 21:34

It reminds me of knight rider

Not necessarily a bad thing as I really enjoyed knight rider but it is more of a nick name to me

Kanaloa · 18/07/2021 21:33

I’m not keen. It’s a fine name, especially if short for Christopher, but not to my taste.

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 18/07/2021 21:31

No because I think of the Rooneys. One of their boys is Kit.

Cleverpolly3 · 18/07/2021 21:29

Gorgeous.
Don’t get the wet thing at all.

CoalCraft · 18/07/2021 21:29

Would automatically think 'kitten'' or 'kitty' which... I guess there's worse things to be associated with?
