Auto correct doesn't speak Scots.

Nae Awe Mae.

Namechangeforthis88 · 16/07/2021 21:32

In Scots, Name Awe Mae.

CorvusPurpureus · 16/07/2021 21:05

Honestly, why?

One of my dc has a slightly unconventional spelling as a nod to her paternal great grandmother (xh's idea).

So something like Johanna to reflect great grandma being a Jehan, but not quite that.

It's one letter difference, & to be honest I rather like the spelling, but teenage dd is already chuntering that she has to constantly check that the 'h' is there every time she fills in a form or gives her name over the phone.

It's a lifelong pain in the arse for her to have to keep telling people the equivalent of 'yes it's Joanna, but with an h, no, not at the end, after the Jo bit'.

I wouldn't do it just to be yooonike, put it that way.

Neighyomee. It's quite popular in the equine community.

Don’t use an alternative spelling for the name Naomi.

RickiTarr · 16/07/2021 20:18

Yes, why?

lunar1 · 16/07/2021 20:16

My name has a stupid spelling thanks to my parents. Don't do that to your child, it was crap when I was a child and it's still crap now. I should have changed it.

Uramaki · 16/07/2021 20:15

@LittleBearPad

Why do you need a younique spelling? If you like the name spell it properly
OP's other thread says they don't like that it is I Moan backwards.
Uramaki · 16/07/2021 20:14

Niomi from your other thread doesn't look right to me.

MaMelon · 16/07/2021 20:12

Nyomay Nevaeh

That’s pure class that ❤️

Whysolong7 · 16/07/2021 20:12

Honestly- why?

Two things will happen. Everyone who meets your daughter will assume she has thick parents who don’t know how to spell the name correctly and messed up when the birth was registered.

Two, she will have to spell her name laboriously every time she gives it out - massive ball ache.

If you like the name just spell it right, like you do the other words you use.

Toottooot · 16/07/2021 20:07

Nyomay Nevaeh - there you go

@titchy

Or Knaomi? Silent K as in knife. Or Gnaomi. Silent G as in gnome.

My niece is a Naomi - pronounced Nay- oh- may (like Naomi Campbell) but many, many people insist in calling her Nigh- oh-may. I'm sure it's preference and both are used by different people, but THIS will be your main issue not the ruddy spelling. Don't piss about with it.

She also goes by Mimi to her family, which I love.

DamsonJammyBastard · 16/07/2021 20:04

I've just thought of the actress Naomie Harris. Stick an E on the end? Seems a bit pointless though.

kylie122 · 16/07/2021 20:04

What's wrong with Just Naomi that's the prettiest spelling

Uramaki · 16/07/2021 20:03

If you search it on Wikipedia there's a list of it in different languages

DamsonJammyBastard · 16/07/2021 20:03

Apparently it's spelt נָעֳמִי in Hebrew. Just a tad tricky to pull off in the UK tho.

Why are you looking for an alternate spelling?

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 16/07/2021 20:03

Nayomi.

Have never seen it spelt any way other than Naomi, but you asked for alternates ... I like Brian.
