@ThatsNotMyReindeer

Pnaomi. The P is silent, like in pterodactyl and pesudomonas.

@TheBuggerlugs
Does that mean I have free rein to say what I want? Grin

FeedMeSantiago · 17/07/2021 10:36

I wouldn't worry about the I moan thing. Lots of names rhyme with something or spell something backwards, but still get used, including very popular names.

Most people will quickly learn your pronunciation - I have a colleague Naomi who pronounces it Nigh oh me so that's how I pronounce her name. A relative's DD pronounces it Nay oh me so that's how I pronounce her name.

If you like it enough to use it I would keep the Naomi spelling.

@Kanaloa

If you don’t like Naomi then choose a different name, rather than misspelling Naomi. It wouldn’t be an ‘alternative’ spelling, it would be the incorrect spelling.

Margot, Eden & Phoebe have the same sort of vibe as Naomi to me. I do like Naomi though.

Don’t tempt her to start “improving” the spelling of Phoebe.

Na7omi.

Jusy tell people it's a silent seven.

user1471481356 · 17/07/2021 04:20

Please don’t. It’s already a name that has to be spelled all the time, why make it harder?

DalPalak · 17/07/2021 04:12

N'omi
N'omé

BackforGood · 17/07/2021 01:03

duh..... gnaomi

BackforGood · 17/07/2021 01:03

Am just posting to ask why ? so that I get the OP's response on my 'Threads I'm on'.

Though I do like
knaomi and gnome Grin

MaMelon · 17/07/2021 00:46

Or maybe you could just name her Imoan so that when everyone is reading her name backwards they say Naomi?

Snugglybuggly · 17/07/2021 00:45

Spell it the way it is!

GreyhoundG1rl · 17/07/2021 00:28

In English we read left to right. There's no need to concern yourself with what any words look like backwards. Or upside down.

GolfEchoRomeoTangoIndia · 17/07/2021 00:26
Grin I am going to see “Ah Satan!” when I meet a Natasha for ever more. It’s a good thing that I went to see the Black Widow movie before I read this thread.

Who gives a toss how it’s spelt backwards!

GreyhoundG1rl · 17/07/2021 00:24

Oh, for fucks sake, why? Hmm

Jasmine11 · 17/07/2021 00:22

NeighEauMye

JorisBonson · 17/07/2021 00:20

Niiiioooooommiiii

Lalliella · 17/07/2021 00:17

OP's other thread says they don't like that it is I Moan backwards.

OP absolutely no-one would make this connection (says the mother of Ah Satan backwards) please don’t inflict a crappily spelt name on your poor child.

IsThePopeCatholic · 16/07/2021 23:01

Neigh oh me

Enko · 16/07/2021 22:36

Not an alternative spelling but an alternative name

Naimi

it means Joy, sweetness, My delight and is Indian in origin

Similar sounding but not got the I moan issue.

Niomie.
I have taught one spelt like this. Grates on me when I see it written down though. Looks wrong!
