Hannah/Hanna or Livia as first name - help I'm stuck!

DP and I have narrowed our names down to Livia, nickname Liv, or Hannah, possibly spelt Hanna which would be the spelling in my native country. I really can't make my mind up, I think both names are lovely in their own way. Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I read that Livia might be mistaken for Olivia, but is that a problem? Would the spelling 'Hanna' seem strange, being in the UK?

For middle names we're considering Rose or Orla Rose.

Hannah is a really boring name.

Livia is very pretty. I think most people can grasp it’s not a shortening of Olivia unless they’re super dim?

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 15/07/2021 21:26

I like Hannah, and there's definitely something special about a palindrome. "Hannah Rose" would be my top choice. PP made a good point about HOR-- initials.

Tulips15 · 15/07/2021 21:16

Hanna Rose.

Dont like Livia as it really sounds lkle a nn for Olivia

SometimesRavenSometimesParrot · 15/07/2021 21:12

Livia is so pretty. She could be Viv or Via as a nickname if you don’t like Liv

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/07/2021 21:05

Livia is gorgeous imo, but yes if you live in the UK it might sometimes get mistaken for Olivia (or even Lydia) since that's much more popular.

Hanna will likely get misspelt, but it (Hannah) is a more popular name here than Livia - thus is a bit more boring to me Wink

Hannah

@KirstenBlest

It sounds clunky...

to you. That's great.

Sounds great TO ME.

mizu · 15/07/2021 17:35

I have a Hanna and she loves the fact she has no H on the end of her name Smile

SE13Mummy · 15/07/2021 17:30

Hanna is a beautiful name. Depending on the last name, HOR_ might not be the best combination of initials...

halfhope · 15/07/2021 16:21

Reminds me of Anna Livia from Finnegan's Wake, the personification of the river Liffey. Do you have Irish connections given that you mentioned the name Orla?

NordicNoirRocks · 15/07/2021 16:13

Is seems Hannah/Hanna is the winner, and I’m chuffed that so many like Hannah Orla Rose, as that’s my preferred name combo, but not DP’s! Grin

Both nice names but of the two I prefer Hannah (or Hanna) over Livia because I think 'Han' sounds a lot nicer than 'Liv'.

Would suggest Hannah over Hanna for spelling just because otherwise she may end up correcting people a lot, though that isn't necessarily a big problem.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 15/07/2021 16:00

Hannah is a palindrome. The world is better with palindromes.

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/07/2021 15:52

I love Hannah / Hanna. I see it as a strong, beautiful name and somewhat a classic.

Livia is nice enough but I imagine everyone will assume its short for Olivia, unless she is always known as Liv

00100001 · 15/07/2021 15:48

Of you call her Livia, she and you will have to correct EVERY SINGLE PERSON about her name for the rest of both of your lives.

TheBeautifulSouth44 · 15/07/2021 15:38

Another vote for Hanna Orla Rose, such a lovely name!

blameitonthecaffeine · 15/07/2021 15:37

I love them both. I've only ever met one Livia so I might go with that if I wanted rarity (but then it does sound very like Olivia).

Junipersky · 15/07/2021 15:33

I have a Hannah so definitely gets my vote.

Zarene · 15/07/2021 15:20

I really like Hanna Orla Rose. The rhythm sounds better to me than Hannah Rose Orla, which is quite staccato.

Iliketeaagain · 15/07/2021 15:10

Hannah is one of the best names - and timeless, I've come across Hannah's of all ages.

Livia is pretty, but I think she would be forever having to correct people that it's Livia, not Olivia.

KirstenBlest · 15/07/2021 15:07

@TheNameTheWebsiteForgot, it might be to you but I think it sounds clunky. Hanna Rose Orla flows better because it doesn't have two vowels next to each other.

Hannah

@KirstenBlest

Flows beautifully to my ears.

KirstenBlest · 15/07/2021 14:17

@TheNameTheWebsiteForgot

Hanna Orla Rose is beautiful 😍
Written down maybe but it doesn't flow very well and my brain tries to 'correct' Orla, in the same way as it might try to correct Tyop
