Hi all, do you know many or any boys called River or Rudy ? I'm not looking for something totally wild and out there, but I have a strong history of picking names that are fairly low down on the ons official list that have become very popular since. I've got three girls, d
So boys names is new territory for me ! I'm aware they won't be everyone's cup of tea as just seen one of them on the names you hate thread ! Other names we have considered are Frank and Ziggy which is a bit out there Wink

Thanks

I know one of each.

daisyjgrey · 28/07/2021 16:29

We have a Rudi.

CatsArePeople · 28/07/2021 16:05

Rudy was our late dog

Pennylane87 · 28/07/2021 15:20

Thank you for all your replies.... We have decided to go for Rudy Smile

No Rudy's. I know 2 male Rivers and they both have sisters called Indie Rose so it's a bit try hard for me.

I know 2 Frank's

woodfort · 27/07/2021 16:24

Don’t know any of either name.

Personally I prefer Rudy. It’s much cooler I think.

bloominglovelyorange · 27/07/2021 14:06

Rudy is nice but I'd probably pick River

Although Rudy is pretty unusual in its own right, keep in mind that names like Rory, Ronnie, Reuben and Roman are all top 100 names and still rising really fast. I know about 5 baby Rory's, 6 baby Reuben's etc so class will be full of those kind of names and it does get a bit of a mouthful (Rory, Rudy, Ronnie, Reuben.... ). The name Rudy sort of merges with a load of other popular names if they're all in the same class. I think I'd pick River for that reason, I do like both just a bit fed up of all the R names , very trendy at the moment

pansyparkinson46 · 24/07/2021 10:52

I know a River but he has sisters called Willow, Sky and Blossom so I presume they like the nature theme!

I associate Rudy with a dog's name for some reason.

SirenSays · 24/07/2021 10:50

I know one family that had them both, and a sister called Rain, they're not a nice family. River used to remind me of River Phoenix until they moved to the area and started causing trouble.

TreesoftheField · 23/07/2021 22:00

No Rivers. I know 1 Rudy with a brother called Ziggy!!!

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 22/07/2021 16:03

My partners 11yo Rudy is upstairs now. He gets no teasing over his name and I think it's pretty cool.

Pennylane87 · 22/07/2021 16:00

@SoupDragon

I do think Rudy could be problematic, as you've discovered from "Nudey Rudy" 😂
This is my gut feeling !

I don’t know any boys named River or Rudy. I like River but don’t like Rudy - for some reason we say that when someone hasn’t got clothes on. So if my son comes through just in his pants we say oooh rudey. I think we got it from mil!

Pennylane87 · 22/07/2021 15:55

@BunnyRuddington

Not Rudyard, RUDY ffs autocorrect

I'm quite disappointed now Grin

Anyway, to answer the question I know one Rudy and no rivers Smile

Bunny ruddington I think we may live in the same village or close by, judging by your name that is !

Buckleyourseatbelt · 22/07/2021 14:20

East London.

I know many Franks/Frankie. Boy and girl.
I know of two Rudis.
I know of two Ziggys.
I ve not met any Rivers.

Builderscrack · 22/07/2021 13:58

I’ve got a Rivva and a Rudi in the same class!

I do like River

FuckingHateRats · 22/07/2021 13:51

I know two boys with that name but they spell it Rudi - maybe a Scottish thing? It's definitely a middle class name around here.

Not River though.

SoupDragon · 22/07/2021 13:49

SoupDragon · 22/07/2021 13:48

I know a dog called River.

I used to know an adult male Rudy but I don't know if it was short for something.

paddlingon · 22/07/2021 13:24

The River I know is a girl.

Pennylane87 · 22/07/2021 12:57

Thanks so much! I think we are slightly leaning towards river, mainly because my DD has started saying nudey Rudy for naked 😂 xx

I've worked with children for over 10 years and have come across one River, one Rudy and three Ziggys. No Franks but lots of Frankies x

Lenny86 · 16/07/2021 18:53

We’re in east london and I know two toddlers called Ziggy, a 9 year old boy and 2 year old girl called Rudy, multiple Franks, but haven’t met a River. I would say Frank is the least out there of the names
