DS 2 weeks old and still no name - HELP!

I had my ds2 about 2 weeks ago and still can’t decide on a name. I thought we had a good strong list but nothing seems to work. Our surname starts with a B, his middle name will be Samuel (family tradition) and DS1 is called Clark.

Our main choices are;
Bruce Samuel B(surname)
Or
Ezekiel (Zeke) Samuel B(surname)

Bruce is a marmite name for me. Lots of famous successful Bruces’ and I like the alliteration, it sounds strong. However I’m on the fence about the Bruce/Clark combo; I’m a nerd but that might be too much even for me! Also it’s rather old and all I picture is Bruce Forsyth!

Zeke is a cool name and lots of other nn options from Ezekiel. However, I don’t know anyone called Zeke and worry it’s pushing strongly into try hard/hipster territory.

So wise mumsnetters- which way should we go or is there a fabulous name we haven’t considered?

Bruce I'm not keen on personally.

I think Zeke is a bit hipster.

Maybe best to go back to the drawing board on this one.

Maybe a similar B name as suggested by pp.

clickychicky · 04/08/2021 08:08

Oh no Zombie! Hope I haven't offended wee little Bruce!

clickychicky · 04/08/2021 08:08

Ezekiel nn. Zeke is lovley. I'd go by Zeke every day. Hate Bruce sorry. As PP. Said do you like Bryce?

Here are some more ideas:

Ethan
Joseph
Mason
Albert

PlainJane1000 · 04/08/2021 08:03

Curious to know what you decided to name your son in the end OP? Assuming he is named now!!

Colourcones · 11/07/2021 18:58

Levi

Babydust13 · 11/07/2021 12:00

I love the name Bruce 💙💙

3luckystars · 11/07/2021 11:29

None of them are right, that’s why you can’t choose.

Get the name book back out, don’t consider your second name, your other child’s name, your relatives name, anything else, just pick a name that’s right for him and go with that.

Of course a photo would really help, who wouldn’t love to see a photo of a 2 week newborn baby Grin

TillyTheTiger · 11/07/2021 11:26

Congratulations! Flowers

Bruce and Clark is very comic book.
Bruce B makes me think of Bruce Buffer, the famous UFC announcer, though I admit that's probably a bit niche, or Bruce Bogtrotter.
Zeke makes me think of bible belt America for some reason.

Samuel is a gorgeous middle name. How about Josiah Samuel nn Joss? Clark and Joss sound good together.

wishing3 · 11/07/2021 11:14

Congratulations!
I’d go Zeke. Or how about Lenny if you’re looking for inspiration?

KirstenBlest · 11/07/2021 11:14

Is your surname Banner?

Chilldonaldchill · 11/07/2021 11:11

I know a little Zeke (well he's 10 now) whose full name is Ezekiel.
They are not a hipster family and I don't see it as particularly "out there" really. I don't want to name their other children as it might be a bit outing but certainly a couple of them are very standard (think Emily or James).
I prefer it to Bruce because I would think of the comic books if I met Clark and Bruce brothers.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 11/07/2021 10:31

Zeke makes me think of the AZ Covid jab sorry!

FeedMeSantiago · 11/07/2021 10:15

I prefer Zeke to Bruce. It goes well with Clark without feeling matchy.

Ikeameatballs · 10/07/2021 21:58

I much prefer Bryce to Bruce, sounds less harsh and I think sounds better with Clark. I like alliteration so that wouldn’t bother me.

AngelDelightUk · 10/07/2021 21:54

Bruce wouldn’t be my choice I must admit, and I agree with PP if neither have stuck you should start thinking of alternatives

How about
Raef
Theo
Joel
Kurt

Or Blaine, Bryce and Blake are similar to Bruce, but I’m not sure if you want a BB initial set up.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 10/07/2021 21:20

@Crockof

If your 2weeks in and neither has stuck I think you need to go back to the drawing board.

Although I do like Kent...

Agree with this- if neither feel right then it’s maybe time to look at other options
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 10/07/2021 21:17

Clark is lovely, but I'm afraid Bruce sounds quite comical to me, despite Bruce Wayne and Bruce Banner- so of the two I'd pick Ezekiel. It is a maybe bit "much", but at least Zeke is quite cool.

If you like alliteration, how about Bram? Cool and single syllable like Bruce and Clark. Or maybe a fellow "surname" name like Clark - Brody, Bennett or Beckett?

GlumyGloomer · 10/07/2021 19:24

The thought of two little boys called Clarke and Bruce has made me smile so much Grin
I'm going to go left field and suggest Samuel Bruce B. And absolutely dress them up in the relevant costumes at least once.

BajanB · 10/07/2021 19:07

Congratulations 🥳. I like Ezekiel Samuel. My uncle was Ezekiel and we called him Uncle Ezzy.

Im not keen on Bruce really. If you don’t go for Bruce would you want something Biblical?

Biblical names I love are:
Rafael
Gabriel
Luke/Lucas
Aaron
Micah

Not biblical:
Miles
Nathan
Robert
Marcus
Giles
Rory
Tobias/Toby

@Popcornbetty

I like Clark actually, it makes me think of Clark Gable and Gone with the Wind. It is really unique and sounds old school strong gentleman to me.
I like it as well but it would be a brave decision for op to name ds2 it.
parttimedrifter · 10/07/2021 19:04

I think Evan, Dean and Drew go quite nicely woth Clark.

I quite like Zeke. Zach, as PP suggested?

Congratulations Flowers

NotAnotherPushyMum · 10/07/2021 19:00

Bruce and Clark? Not unless you’re comic book fans and there’s enough of them about to make the connection.

I like Zeke.
