We've found out we're having a baby girl and Maeve is one of the names we both like. DH is Irish but we live in SE England.

I'm aware the name has got more popular recently and now appeared in the top 100 I think. I'm not too worried about that though.

Also realised Maeve is a character in Sex Education and another series is due be released later this year around the time she'll be born. Not overly keen on people thinking I've named my baby after a TV show! Do you think alot of people will make that connection? And does it really matter?!

Also thinking about other ideas for Irish girls names that work well in England with no major spelling difficulties. Unfortunately can't use Niamh, Orla or Erin because already taken by other family members.

Love the name Maeve, we find out the gender in a couple of weeks and I'm swaying towards Olivia Maeve 🥰 (provided partner agrees!)

Maeve from sex education is an amazing character. so don’t worry about negative connotations most people love her. it is a beautiful name

Maeve is lovely. I wouldn't worry about about a TV show (unless it's a Daenerys or Sansa type "invented" name which is too associated with a particular programme), and I don't think trendiness matters as much for a traditional name unless it suddenly gets very popular (say top 20/30).

Maeve is a lovely name....our daughter is India Maeve....Daddy is Punjabi so chose India. Other Irish girl 's names I loved were Aisling, Clodagh, Nessa and Caitlin. People targeting much better at pronunciation although my son..Darragh....still gets called Darren or Darrell! Agree Kuala is a bit old fashioned 😁

Maeve is really lovely.

As for Nuala, dear God no. It's a very old fashioned name in Ireland and not in a good way.
