Sibling for Ophelia?

We already have a 2yo Ophelia and are expecting a baby girl in November. It’s been much more difficult coming up with a name this time around, but so far have Claudia and Cecilie (yes spelled like that - I don’t like the Cecily spelling for some reason, and seeing as it was the name of the princess of Greece, have convinced myself that it’s usable!). Thoughts on those two? We also love the name Arabella but my sister got to it before we could sadly :(

We live in SW London if that makes any difference - I know some names are subject to accents/pronunciation.

Your parents are right so you dodged a bullet.

What about Venetia or Raffaella.

How interesting! Where abouts are you? We’re in South Ken. Everyone here pronounces it the same way (there are two in DHs monkey music and another at nursery) regardless of spelling! Also, wasn’t St Cecilia ‘ce-cee-lia’?

I love love love Ottilie but DH and both of our parents say it reminds them of utterly butterly or otterly, so I persuaded DH on Cecilie as it feels similar but reminds people less of the faux butter brand Confused

I live in SW London…

Ce cee lia is usually spelt Cecelia

Jossbow · 30/06/2021 23:09

Ottilie? Perhaps to much to have another O Name

Jemima?
Lucinda

Ahh, around here it’s definitely ‘ce-cee-lia’ so we’d be constantly correcting people I’m afraid :(

Not if it’s Ce ci lia rather than Ce cee lia.

phoenix2409 · 30/06/2021 22:53

I love Cecilia too but it rhymes with Ophelia!

I prefer Cecilia to Cecilie which is a bit twee and think it goes better with Ophelia.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/06/2021 22:35

I love Cecilie and Claudia. I think I'd choose Cecilie to go with Ophelia.
