The name Swan for a baby girl AIBU

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Thedogscollar · 28/06/2021 18:41

Ridiculous and cruel and devoid if any rational thought.
Does that cover it.
Don't care if I'm told off for this. You asked opinions this is mine.

Toebean · 28/06/2021 18:40

Is your surname lake? Hmm Awful, just awful, up there with Bunny.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 28/06/2021 18:40

she'll break your arm

MrsToothyBitch · 28/06/2021 18:40

I just think of little Swan Brooner from the Living Dolls documentary about the child pageant system in the US.

Getawriggleon · 28/06/2021 18:40

Do long necks run in the family?

dogistoobigforthesofa · 28/06/2021 18:39

I can see why you might think Swan is a pretty name, but what if your daughter grows up to be anything but swan-like? If you like bird names, how about Ava - that comes from Avis, the Latin for bird.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 28/06/2021 18:39

I guess it's also ok if your surname is Sea.
and you're Welsh

Shakirasma · 28/06/2021 18:39

When I was a little girl I had a beautiful cuddly toy swan called Swanie.

I loved it so much that I was determined that when I had children I would call one of them Swan or Swanie after my beloved toy.

Then at some point over the age of 10, I grew up and realised that was bloody ridiculous.

RampantIvy · 28/06/2021 18:38

I'm so sorry @DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult Flowers

Crowsandshivers · 28/06/2021 18:38

Please don't. If you want a bird name then go for Robyn/Robin....

WellTidy · 28/06/2021 18:38

A swan? Go on!

OverByYer · 28/06/2021 18:38

Only if you call her brother Duckie

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/06/2021 18:38

No. They're not even very nice birds; aggressive and bullying. Call your daughter something else.

Dumbledoresgirl · 28/06/2021 18:38

Up the swannie?

GreyhoundG1rl · 28/06/2021 18:38

@Duskydai

The woman in Fatherhood is named Lizzie but nicknamed Swan. Big difference! Up to you what you name your child but it’s a no from me
Jesus! Wanting to name your child after a tv character is dumb enough, but when it isn't even their name... 🙄
CandyLeBonBon · 28/06/2021 18:37

😂

Lanique · 28/06/2021 18:37
Hmm
Funnylittlefloozie · 28/06/2021 18:37

Ask in the baby name section if you want a sensible reply. But honestly? Please don't. Its a lovely word, but an awful name for a child.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 28/06/2021 18:37

@AnyFucker

Beat me to it *@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba*
I was surprised it wasn't the very first answer
RainRainGoAway12 · 28/06/2021 18:37

I was at the park the other day and there was a boy called Snow. Not what you asked but I was a bit Hmm at that name too.

I think if you are a celebrity, crack on. If you’re a mere mortal, maybe just use it as a middle name.

Duskydai · 28/06/2021 18:36

The woman in Fatherhood is named Lizzie but nicknamed Swan. Big difference! Up to you what you name your child but it’s a no from me

RampantIvy · 28/06/2021 18:36

Is your surname Vesta?

PomegranateSeed · 28/06/2021 18:36

At least you won’t be short for future sibling ideas. Duck, goose, seagull, cormorant……

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 28/06/2021 18:35

You're a tree.

AnyFucker · 28/06/2021 18:34

Beat me to it @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba
