Zeus in disguise carried her away and raped her once out of swan form. I realise it's not a nice story but people use loads of Greek names with horrible back stories (most of them are).

LuluJakey1 · 05/07/2021 00:29

@TheSlayer

Or Leda for a classical Greek swan reference.
Didn't Leda have sex with a swan?
CallMeNutribullet · 02/07/2021 23:16

I like giraffe for a boy, but pronounced the French way. Like Sophie la giraffe

ilovepixie · 02/07/2021 23:15

I actually quite like it!

ListenToChickens · 02/07/2021 23:11

Nice, Swan. Like 'nice one'. It's a 'no' from me.

TatianaBis · 02/07/2021 22:48

Dove & pigeon are the same family Columbidae - Palumbus - hence Paloma

AmIPeriOrAreYouJustAnnoying · 02/07/2021 22:33

@BlueJag a dove is different from a pigeon! Symbol of peace & all that 🕊

I can't imagine manoeuvring life with that name. I narrowly escape being called Paloma (dove/pigeon) I hate the flying rats I'll hate to be named after them.

TatianaBis · 01/07/2021 11:25

Her brother is called Blackbird

Blackbird in French is actually a name - Merle.

ShitPoetryClub · 01/07/2021 09:41

Alita is pretty, it means small winged one.

I quite like Cygnus (Latin for Swan), that could possibly work for a boy, an Etonian boy. Sort of name Reece-Mogg might use.

EmbarrassingMama · 01/07/2021 09:20

She'll inevitably be clumsy AF.

CafeMochaVodkaValiumLate · 30/06/2021 09:51

@CandyLeBonBon Grin damn I've been outed!

ShortBacknSides · 30/06/2021 08:56

Only if:

Her middle name is UglyDuckling

And

Her brother is called Blackbird

HollowTalk · 30/06/2021 07:24

Sorry, I meant a swan!

HollowTalk · 30/06/2021 07:23

It's not even a nice name for a swim.

CandyLeBonBon · 30/06/2021 07:20

@CafeMochaVodkaValiumLate

I really like it :)

We all have unusual names in my family (my son is an animal name and I'm a fruit) and funnily enough, children don't tend to give a shit what you're called. It's the parents who seem to struggle with something out of the ordinary.

You're Princess Consuela Banana hammock aren't you?
AmIPeriOrAreYouJustAnnoying · 30/06/2021 07:17

Oh give over op!

amallierory · 30/06/2021 07:15

Although I agree that Swan is a hideous name... I see it as no worse than River, Forest, Scout, Sailor and Fox, all of which seem to be accepted as perfectly fine names on here. Confused

Juliecanter · 29/06/2021 23:54

I like it. But I think it is 50/50 whether the name will stay as swan or morph into shaun.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 29/06/2021 23:50

Oh also, young children often struggle with a 'S-consonant' sound, so will say Shwan for a few years.

A certain Bond actor (with a name not a million miles from 'Shwan') got to 90 and never quite managed it.

I've got that annoying song going around in my head now - the one that goes 's'wonderful' (swan-derful?!) and then starts banging on randomly about chips.

You must have misunderstood my post. I was not asking you to tell me your name! Why would I do that? 😂

CafeMochaVodkaValiumLate · 29/06/2021 16:55

@GreyhoundG1rl so you want me to tell you my name so you can take the piss out of it Confused back at ya.

Moonface123 · 29/06/2021 15:46

I have heard of Swannie but not Swan.
I quite like it.
