Thoughts? Are there many Gabriella’s? Or should I go with Lily?

Agree with others that Gabrielle is nicer, and goes with Lily better.

Also Belle as a nn is really sweet.

Showgurn · 01/07/2021 17:41

The name I would have used for a daughter

TatianaBis · 01/07/2021 17:40

It's quite 80s and I'm not fond of Gabby/Gabs. It's a bit like Gobby.

But Ella is ok if over-used.

pickingdaisies · 01/07/2021 17:25

Only known one Gabriella in real life - I taught her, I thought then how beautiful and unusual her name was, and nobody seemed to shorten it!

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/07/2021 16:57

I prefer Gabrielle, I find Gabrielle a bit if a mouthful.

35andThriving · 01/07/2021 16:41

I like it. Smile

pinkheather · 30/06/2021 15:45

Gabriella Lilly is a really pretty name - I really like it! Just not to keen on Gabby as a nn.

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 30/06/2021 09:09

Gabriella is lovely (i think its a lot nicer than Gabrielle) I only know of one, who is about 7 I think.
I'm not a massive fan of Lily, and there are lots more of them about. I think both names together don't flow very well (too many L's)

CoffeeWithCheese · 30/06/2021 09:02

@Leftmyheartinthe90s

Is Gabi, Gaby or Gabby the nicest if it gets shortened at school by friends etc?
Gabz for the one in DD1's class (sorry!)

I have to say it's a name I really dislike - but that's because it's tarred by the association with the aforementioned child who is a bit of a nasty bully, with siblings who are also nasty bullies and who has DD as her target to the point we're trying to move schools.

QweenJinx · 30/06/2021 01:05

Gabriella and Lilly, both lovely names- together is a bit of a tongue twister!
Lilly Gabriella may be easier?🌸

joystir59 · 28/06/2021 07:24

As is Gabriella.

joystir59 · 28/06/2021 07:23

Gabrielle is beautiful.

woodfort · 28/06/2021 07:22

Gabriella is 137th in the ONS name charts btw (and Gabrielle 513th).

Lily is 9th.

woodfort · 28/06/2021 07:19

It’s a fantastic name. Strong and feminine at the same time.

Relatively unusual but yet a very known name that everyone knows how to pronounce.

Bortles · 28/06/2021 00:56

I like it. Prefer with one L perhaps? Lily as middle name doesnt flow because it begins with L, you get la li ly.

Leftmyheartinthe90s · 28/06/2021 00:34

@EishetChayil I didn’t say Gab

EishetChayil · 27/06/2021 23:11

Gab is so ugly. Gabby. Ugh.

SunflowerOwl · 27/06/2021 21:12

I love it and also like Gabby as a nn.

Squeakerfoot · 27/06/2021 20:19

Beautiful name. Gabi is nicest in my opinion.

hawkehurstgang · 27/06/2021 20:12

Lovely

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 27/06/2021 19:57

Love it!

Pinkypink · 27/06/2021 19:36

I love it.
One of my faves.
Also love Gabrielle

BrownEyedSquirrel · 27/06/2021 15:39

I adore this name. Classical, underused, elegant. Also love the nns Gabby, Brie and Ella.

I'm adding this to my list OP!

Not that I'm expecting but a girl can dream ;)

BusMum79 · 27/06/2021 14:47

I have a Gabriella. We do nickname her Gabby a fair bit, but I like it and I prefer that to Ella as a shortening. She’s almost two and we haven’t met any others so far. She is the youngest of 3 (two older brothers) and I haven’t encountered it amongst my sons’ peers either.

Lucia574 · 27/06/2021 14:44

I know three Gabbis and only one Lily. I’ve never taught a Gabrielle/Gabriella who doesn’t abbreviate to Gabi/Gabby etc, which is less pretty.
