Am now singing the gorgeous Roxy music song - which as the name is quite unusual, I suspect your DD will have to get used to if you use it OP! I understand why you are tempted though - Avalon has a beautiful, quite feminine sound imo.

I'd consider similar Albion if you want a boys "version" - more masculine sounding and has the commonplace nn "Al" or "Albie" , just as Avalon could be "Ava or "Lonni" etc if she wanted .

Absolutely love, has been on my girls name list for years (have a DS), not sure if I'm brave enough to use it though if next baby is a girl. But if you are and you love it, I'd go for it.

I know a female Avalon. Shes 25 and beautiful. One of my favourite names. She gets called Lonnie for short occasionally but is mostly just Avalon

I live in Somerset so here it's the name of basically every local company. Avalon tyres, avalon motors, Avalon windows, Avalon storage etc etc etc etc. Not a good name!

It’s a place to me. Both a book and a movie have an Avalon in it.

You might get away with a girl but I’m not sure it would work for a boy

Arthurian legend, quite hippyish. It's not awful, but I still don't think I'd use it as a baby name. I also don't think it would sound very nice in some accents e.g. south-east / London - a bit harsh, and like an 'H' had been dropped, but I may be overthinking!

It's quite a nice name - I think it reminds me a bit of a washing powder brand or something, though. Not sure if that's quite what you're looking for?

It conjures up Glastonbury hippy parents.

Much prefer Arthurian names such as Guinevere, Yseult, Arthur, Gawain, Merlin.
