Would I constantly have people saying 'how unusual'? Or wondering how to pronounce it? (I would say my-cah)

For a boy btw...

Biblical male name pronounced MY-kuh. I don't generally like Old Testament names and this is no exception. On the positive side, it's nicer than Noah.

this.

The OT names that are always popular - Daniel, Samuel, Benjamin, and the like - are fine but not the others.

Micah makes e think of Formica and mica

MaMelon · 23/06/2021 11:03

Other than that they have two of the same letters, I'm not sure Mike and Micah have much in common at all

Mike-uh and My-ka - pronounced in the same way.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 23/06/2021 10:19

None of the Micahs that I've known had their names shortened to Mike.

Me neither. Other than that they have two of the same letters, I'm not sure Mike and Micah have much in common at all.

Havanalily1806 · 23/06/2021 10:14

I don't think it's unusual really.

Micah Richards was a big player for Man City and is now quite a big pundit he's never off the TV, most people will have heard of the name Micah because of him

Leeloo1233 · 23/06/2021 10:08

I think it's nice and interesting. Sounds a bit american?

SJMACC · 23/06/2021 09:17

Lovely name

EdgeOfACoin · 23/06/2021 06:06

Old Testament name - pronounced My-ka.

I know a young Micah. He isn't known as Mike.

Posieandpip · 23/06/2021 03:39

Love Micah! I adore biblical names. They suit literally every type of person.

lakesummer · 22/06/2021 22:57

The o e I know is called my-ka like the rock.

MrsFin · 22/06/2021 22:41

I thought it was Mee-ka. I don't like My-ca. There's a rock called mica with that pronunciation.

lakesummer · 22/06/2021 22:33

There is one in dc's class.
Seems a sensible enough name.

CassandraTrotter · 22/06/2021 22:16

Great old testament name.

Mysterylovingboy · 22/06/2021 22:15

Makes me think of an old farmer, wearing a floppy hat, and chewing at the farm gate. But that's not necessarily a bad thing!

DramaAlpaca · 22/06/2021 22:14

RightOnTheEdge · 22/06/2021 22:14

I like it. It was the little boy's name in Heroes.
I loved that series.

scrivette · 22/06/2021 22:11

I like it and I have only come across one. I wouldn't have considered the Mike shortening and would pronounce it in the same way you do.

StayCalmX · 22/06/2021 22:08

Awful. Trying too hard.

RuthW · 22/06/2021 22:06

The only Micah I've ever known was a girl

BiBabbles · 22/06/2021 22:02

None of the Micahs that I've known had their names shortened to Mike.

I think it's a nice name, have nothing but positive association with it.

VenusClapTrap · 22/06/2021 21:14

Not my cup of tea.

MegaCityOne · 22/06/2021 20:20

Love it!

Cowbells · 22/06/2021 20:18

I like it.

Starshapeddreams · 22/06/2021 20:11

I love it! It's on our shortlist if this bumps a boy 💙

TenThousandSpoons · 22/06/2021 20:10

I really like it - I would pronounce it the same as you and would think it’s a boy.

TBC45678 · 22/06/2021 20:00

Hadn't thought about the Mike shortening! Not keen on that...
