Thoughts on Zara? Would be a sibling for Tessa and Thomas. Just not sure I can get past the whole store name connotation. Thoughts are appreciated!

Saw this and had to comment because my name actually is Zara.

From years of experience introducing myself to people I can tell you that the general consensus is that people think its 'really pretty'. I often go by a nickname and have had a lot of people tell me I shouldn't because my first name is so beautiful and its such a shame I don't use it more (not really their business but that's another issue altogether).

Some people make the connection with the royal, nobody has ever brought up the store. Though a couple of friends have brought me shopping bags from the store after shopping their themselves, because apparently they think I would appreciate a bag with my name on it?

So yeah lots and lots of people go on about how pretty they think it is, so I'm sure you'll receive a positive response if you go with it. Personally I don't like the name, but my opinion seems to be very much in the minority and people get uppity at me when I say that.
Hope this helps!

Lovely!

RedRec · 24/06/2021 10:37

Love it. Love your other children's names too, and think it would fit very well with them.

Gemma2019 · 24/06/2021 09:45

I love it, always have. It goes really well with your other names too. I don't ever think of the shop when I think of the name Zara.

Theoldwoman · 24/06/2021 09:39

Absolutely love it!

It's my eldest daughters middle name (she is 33) and she loves it more than her first name.

It's one of my top ten.

Never been into a Zara's store before.

Dropdeadfred2 · 24/06/2021 09:39

MsTSwift · 23/06/2021 22:32

I really like it. Shop wouldn’t put me off - it’s a good shop!

DramaAlpaca · 23/06/2021 22:31

I love it, it's one of my favourite names.

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 23/06/2021 22:30

Like it too. But my Rs are not clear enough to choose it!

kmini · 23/06/2021 22:28

Thank you for all your replies. Feeling much more positive about it after all these comments!

My DD is Zara Amaya.

Zara means “princess” in the Spanish version, or there is also the Arabic version - Zahra - which means “she who laughs in the stars.”

mrsrobin · 22/06/2021 20:41

I love Zara too :)

Zarene · 22/06/2021 20:41

Love it. The one I know is sometimes called Zee.

HappyDaysToCome · 22/06/2021 20:40

It’s a great name. Recognisable but not used that often. Could be a cute kid, a cool teen, on the front of a theatre, or a professional woman taken seriously.

PinusSylvestris · 22/06/2021 20:40

I like it. Didn't think of the shop.

Marcipex · 22/06/2021 20:39

I only know of one, she’s 2-3.
It’s a lovely name, easy to spell, and Zara the shop isn’t an awful dive or anything.
Tessa is gorgeous too.

bonbonours · 22/06/2021 20:37

I wanted Zara, my dh didn't like it, we ended up with Cara.

mum2jakie · 22/06/2021 20:36

I think royalty rather than shop!

MegaCityOne · 22/06/2021 20:34

I love the name. I know one, aged 14 now. She is known as Zed.

hazandduck · 22/06/2021 13:28

I love the name Zara. Was on our list for both DDs and if we have a third it would be on there again :)

SlipperTripper · 22/06/2021 13:06

My DD was Zara. Love it ❤️

Clickbait · 22/06/2021 13:04

I really like Zara and I think the clothes shop association is fine.

Also love Clara - and Tara, but three Ts would put me off!
