I don’t know why after searching for boys and girls names this popped into my head for a boy and I love it.. DH says it’s short for Cameron and he’s not keen.. nor am I but I love Cammy on its own? Honesty please

Friend has a daughter named Cammy, short for Camilla. I would assume it's a girl.

TatianaBis · 22/06/2021 17:52

As in knickers? Nooo.

I like the name Cam as shortening for Camilla or Cameron.

sparkleshines · 22/06/2021 17:42

I like the spelling Kami.

Crankley · 22/06/2021 16:51

Awful.

Havanalily1806 · 22/06/2021 15:46

@Dollywilde

Sorry, Chris Kamara is my first thought!
exactly mine too! Grin
TotorosCatBus · 22/06/2021 14:49

I know a female Cammy which is short for Cameron but it would work for other names like Camilla.

The male Camerons I know go by Cam

ILoveShula · 22/06/2021 14:17

Cami-knickers

Camdyn is truly awful, but could have a sibling called Kenzington.

1starwars2 · 22/06/2021 09:51

Camillo, Cam for short.
Cammy is nice for a toddler but I can't imagine an adult or teenager liking it.

ravelston · 22/06/2021 08:49

I've never heard of this being someone's actually name but a very common nickname for someone called Cameron here in Scotland. In fact all the Cameron's I know get called this.
If you like it I'd use Cameron and use it as a nickname

emmathedilemma · 22/06/2021 08:44

Very commonly used as a nn for Cameron in Scotland but I wouldn't use it as a full name.

EishetChayil · 21/06/2021 22:03

Not great.

As for Camdyn... just no.

GreyhoundG1rl · 21/06/2021 22:01

Awful.

OverByYer · 21/06/2021 22:00

I thought it said Gammy.
I wouldn’t use it

Maddermax · 21/06/2021 21:59

Awful for both boys and girls.

I hear it in a particularly whiny Australian accent.

Blowingagale · 21/06/2021 21:54

Not as the official name - use as a nickname if you want with one of the full names PP have suggested.

Viviennemary · 21/06/2021 21:52

Its absolutely dire. Like a brand of soap.

Holly60 · 21/06/2021 21:51

Really awful idea

TwinsAndTrifle · 21/06/2021 21:43

Chris Kamara.

tryanewname · 21/06/2021 21:43

I know a Campbell nn Cammy

IslandLulu · 21/06/2021 21:42

I used to know a Camille nn Cammy. I like it.

Mabelene · 21/06/2021 21:38

Camouflage?

ApolloandDaphne · 21/06/2021 21:29

I worked with a police officer called Cammy short for Cameron. I quite like it but you would need a full name rather than just Cammy.

Dollywilde · 21/06/2021 21:28

Sorry, Chris Kamara is my first thought!

LakeShoreD · 21/06/2021 21:27

Its often used for someone called Cameron
Sorry didn’t realise that. I have 2 male relatives called Cameron and they don’t abbreviate their names. Just my personal experience but I’ve only known girls/women go by Cammy and I’ve lived in Scotland (but only briefly!).

rdmk · 21/06/2021 21:13

Yeah it's nice! Like someone else said though, a bit cutesy as a full name on its own, perhaps use a full name and nickname him Cammy?
