What’s everyone’s thoughts on this name?

I know two guys in their 30’s called Digby and they both love their name. I also met someone recently who had a baby called Digby and had nothing but positive reactions to it.

I’m not really bothered about dog names. I don’t know any dogs called digby but lots of dogs called Bella and lots of babies called Bella.

It's dire.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 18/06/2021 14:32

I only know it as a dog, I know a Diggory though if you are looking for similar alternatives?

soooooooG · 18/06/2021 15:14

I love it but has been vetoed for both dog and human 😢

PattyPan · 18/06/2021 15:44

I don’t know any dogs (or people) called it, it’s just if you we’re in the park shouting ‘come here Digby’ I’d be looking for a dog because it’s an inherently doggy name to me. It reminds me of the Dilbert character Dogbert.

Digby Jones.

Someone trying to be ‘cool and different’ (and ending up with a not great name).

Congrats op.

bigbaggyeyes · 18/06/2021 16:41

My daughters favourite horse is called Digby

DramaAlpaca · 18/06/2021 19:33

I'm sorry but I think it's truly awful.

SemperIdem · 18/06/2021 22:04

It’s a ridiculous name.

chaosrabbitland · 18/06/2021 22:27

sorry op , it brought a beagle to mind before id even clicked on the thread , i see its brought dogs to everyone elses mind more or less as well

JaninaDuszejko · 18/06/2021 22:35

I though Clifford was the biggest dog misses the point

I know too many dogs with human names, time to reclaim them.

Classica · 18/06/2021 22:37

This was Digby.

I have just dredged back that I went the school with someone called Digby, younger sibling was my age, he was older. The sibling had a much more standard classic name, like Alexander (but not that).

Nobody really batted an eyelid - he was athletic and had all the innate confidence being from a well off family brings. So if you really like it, use it I suppose.

Lalliella · 19/06/2021 00:26

It’s awful. Please don’t.

Labradooodle · 19/06/2021 00:31

It sounds a bit silly for a boy. Love it for a dog as well though.

What about Gregory, Jacoby or Toby

GertietheGherkin · 19/06/2021 00:36

We've got a rescue donkey called Digby 😃

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 19/06/2021 00:43

I had an English teacher called Digby! But no, it’s not for me.
