If you had to change your name (not to anything silly like Profiterolina) what first name would you go for?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Profiterolina · 16/06/2021 18:21

Oi!

CaffiSaliMali · 16/06/2021 18:13

I should probably say my favourite girls name, Esyllt, but it would have the same spelling and pronunciation issues as my own name, but on a larger scale.

As a young child I wanted to be called Rosie but I no longer like that name. I do like Rosa though, so maybe that. Although I have a lot of love for Annie...

It's really hard to imagine yourself with a different name!

SoapboxFox · 16/06/2021 15:43

Profiterolina
Grin

Today I think I'd go for Juliette, Clementine or Victoria.

Posieandpip · 16/06/2021 15:36

Id be Nancy or Annie or Eliza. Something a bit Victorian and scullery-maidish.

Pyewackect · 16/06/2021 15:18

I adopted another name when I came back to the UK when I was 14. It's not, of course, on my birth certificate but I've never had any problems

CharlieBoo · 16/06/2021 15:16

My name is classic, I really like it but as a child I always wanted to be known by my middle name which is Charlotte, as you could get better nicknames from it... right now probably something like Nancy or Alice..

wanderedlonelyasacloud · 16/06/2021 15:09

Alice Smile its my favourite ever name

Merchymor · 16/06/2021 15:09

Llinos

Or maybe Lleucu

Or Rhiannon

With Angharad as a middle name.

MissyB1 · 16/06/2021 15:08

Kathleen (my mum’s name). I love it and it’s much more interesting than my name.

colouringindoors · 16/06/2021 15:06

Really interesting question OP!

I gave a fairly sensible name, but one which others have mentioned in a shortened form which is nice.

I like Emma. Also tempted by something off grid, like Skye.

When I was a kid I liked Harriet from the book Harriet the Spy Grin

Inadaze80 · 16/06/2021 15:05

When my mum was expecting me I was always going to be Louise. At the last minute she changed it to a very common, eighties name. I'm still quite bitter about not being a louise Sad

JonahofArk · 16/06/2021 15:00

My two favourite English girls' names are Helen and Evelyn, I think I'd go for Evelyn.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 16/06/2021 14:54

I really like my name (Julia) so I'd probably pick something similar - classical, well known but not top 100 popular, international... maybe Claudia or Antonia.

Violetlavenders · 16/06/2021 14:47

I'd love a more interesting and memorable name. I like Antonia.

Fyredraca · 16/06/2021 14:47

I'd like a name from classical mythology like Andromeda, Antigone, Minerva or something like that. I'll stick with my actual name, there were 6 of us in my class at primary school but I rarely meet one now.

Cinni23 · 16/06/2021 14:44

Oooo and Rachel.

Cinni23 · 16/06/2021 14:43

I also like Emma, Rebecca, Beth and Mila.

Cinni23 · 16/06/2021 14:42

Hmmmm...

Maybe Liv or Viv. So Vivienne.

Actually I think I'd go for Lily.

frecklefacee · 16/06/2021 14:32

My name is on here and I hate it😂. I think I’d like to be something a bit unusual like Iona or something

4amWitchingHour · 16/06/2021 14:30

Similar to @Crockof I've got an unusual first and last name, which I like now, but would still prefer to be a bit more anonymous.

I've always wanted to be a Beth (I think strongly influenced by Little Women), with a preference on Bethan as the long version. I like Elizabeth / Elisabeth, but prefer the sound of Bethan. Oddly not that keen on Bethany though.

TooTiredForToday · 16/06/2021 14:19

Always fancied being a Vanessa or something sultry. Not sure I pull it off.

And surname I love names like Da Silva, De La Cruz, things like that.

I have a very, very dull name but as I've got older I've embraced it more - I've realised the value of privacy and of having a name that google returns 18 million searches for.

Crockof · 16/06/2021 14:16

I have a very unusual name (first and a foreign last) I'd like something really regular, so maybe Sarah Jones, or Beth Smith, something I could hide behind

Laska2Meryls · 16/06/2021 14:13
@Laska2Meryls I hope I didn't cause any offense, your name is beautiful really, very sweet 😉
LlamaGiles · 16/06/2021 14:13

I have quite a solid classic name and always wanted something more fashionable. Maybe Wren or Sorrel.
