Basically posh names that aren't very common. I can't think of what the girls names equivalents would be. Ideas?

So bored - you're replying again?

It's a downmarket name, never met a posh Vivien in all my life.

PoliceDogWoof · 16/06/2021 22:39

Sigh.

The name Vivien is no less "posh" than most of the ridiculous names listed on this thread.

If you want to disagree again, go ahead. Im so bored now.

TatianaBis · 16/06/2021 22:16

No matter how you spell Vivien/nne it is definitively not posh.

PoliceDogWoof · 16/06/2021 20:51

@TatianaBis

Depends how you spell Vivien

It really doesn't.

😄

It does matter.

Lots of french words such as serviette and toilette and blouse sound off English. Same with names, juliet over juliette, vivien over vivienne.

FurrySlipperBoots · 16/06/2021 20:44

Henrietta? Georgiana? Genevieve?

If you like Honor, what about Patience/Grace/Harmony/Prudence?

TatianaBis · 16/06/2021 20:34

It makes it anachronistic.

They're certainly not established 20th c upper class names let alone 21st c.

Well I would have thought that just makes them even more established!

@GreyhoundG1rl well I suppose you would have to know me to know my daughters name and my cats name and to take a guess at the surname with Honor issue but if you do know me then it would be quite obvious I think! Ah well!

spagbog5 · 16/06/2021 12:11

All of my children's names are in this thread !
I didn't realise I was so posh Grin

GreyhoundG1rl · 16/06/2021 11:59

How does it out you?

pigglepot · 16/06/2021 11:55

Just realised that post basically outs me completely! Whoops!!

Some great suggestions here! It does seem like there are a lack of female equivalents of those sort of posh names that also aren't quite Jilly Cooper territory like someone said 😂.

Honor is basically my all time favourite but DH vetoed it without telling me why. Turns out he vetoed it because when combined with our surname it can have an obscene meaning that she would get bullied for! Gutted!! Someone else mentioned Kitty which is currently my top fave apart from Honor and we already have a Violet and a cat Pandora. Some of the others - Arabella, Lucinda etc are just a bit too frilly and over the top for me!

Bryonyshcmyony · 16/06/2021 11:44

Some of these are pretentious rather than posh.

Posh girls names are irrelevant because they'll have a nickname all their lives anyway

KaptainKaveman · 16/06/2021 11:42

Or perhaps go for some of the lesser known Shakespearian names?
Volumnia is a personal fave.
