Too outdated?

Thoughts on Luella? Is it too outdated?
Thinking either Lu, Lulu, or Elle for nickname options.
My nan was Lucille but went by Lu and my gram kept suggesting Luella as a name for my cousin's baby (she has a Lincoln) but I don't know if it's too old fashioned for a baby.

(I'm American if that matters)

If you like those nicknames maybe you would like Eloise as her name rather than Luella?

I like it. As others have said, I wouldn't see it as old fashioned - it's unusual without being out there.
Lots of nickname opportunities too.

I wouldn't regard it as old fashioned. I would see it as a slightly unusual, not often used name.

If you like it and I can see it has special meaning to you, then go for it. If a child has parents from different countries then an unusual name or a name popular in one of the parents' home countries wouldn't be unexpected at all.

I like it, but would expect to see it spelt Louella, however that's a different matter!
