Expecting #2 in Aug and we don't know gender. Want to get a feel for what others think of our name choices for if it's a girl.... Margot Jane or Hazel Jane.
Also any boy name ideas? Middle name will be Ralph.
Dd1 is Eliza Ann FYI

But please spell it Margot, not Margaux as a distant acquaintance did I roll my eyes at the pretentiousness every time I see it

Actually Margaux is the more popular spelling of the name in France.

I much prefer Hazel, op.

Hazel by miles.

Margot is a thoroughly ugly name.

Jane is wonderful.

Tillygetsit · 14/06/2021 22:33

Oh and I think Eliza and Adam Hugh sound good together.

Tillygetsit · 14/06/2021 22:28

Hazel Jane is perfect.

SirSamuelVimes · 14/06/2021 21:50

I love Margot!

How about Margot June? (Am biased against Jane as middle name as half the girls in my class at school had it as their middle name!)

Mum2jenny · 14/06/2021 21:48

Hazel Jane seems good to me and

partyatthepalace · 14/06/2021 21:46

Margot, really don’t like Hazel for some reason.

Boys - Amos, Silas, Seth, Saul, Jethro, Jerome, Nathaniel, Francis (Frances is nice for a girl also), Joss, Jude, Joel

35andThriving · 14/06/2021 21:22

I like both. I think I'd like to be Margot. To be honest I'm not sure if it's just because Hazel doesn't really work with my surname, so that is colouring my view. I like both. Smile

NcagainNC · 14/06/2021 18:07

Love Hazel

Pemba · 14/06/2021 18:01

Out of the two, I'd go with Hazel. Margot is forever 'The Good Life', to me. A rather pushy upper middle class woman. Shame, but I can't get that out of my head.

Your first DD's name Eliza is lovely.

BTW, a pp said that Hazel suggested 'stripper' to them. How on earth can you think that? It is the complete opposite of what a Hazel is. Your typical Hazel lives in a village where she helps run the local brownie pack and helps deliver the parish magazine. So a slightly dowdy vibe really, though objectively it is a lovely name and meaning.

beans1992 · 14/06/2021 17:56

Oh I love your taste in names! It’s a shame it’s not twins because Margot and Hazel are such a gorgeous combination! At a push I would go for Hazel but Margot is also so lovely.

Not too helpful I know!

RiaOverTheRainbow · 14/06/2021 17:48

Margot's fine but I love Hazel

ODFOx · 14/06/2021 17:46

They're both lovely. Would prefer Margaret to Margot for the multiple nn options, but both Margot and Hazel are lovely.

A boy to go with Eliza, middle name Ralph? Henry or Albert or Silas.

AnyaMoondial · 14/06/2021 17:44

Hazel Jane is pretty great actually.

riotlady · 14/06/2021 17:07

Both lovely! Cant go wrong

Lulu1919 · 14/06/2021 17:05

Margot

3peassuit · 14/06/2021 17:03

Hazel Jane. Another Nick Drake fan here.

MargotHeggerty · 14/06/2021 17:02

Margot....obviously Wink

AnyaMoondial · 14/06/2021 17:01

I love Hazel.

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/06/2021 16:44

Sorry but I love them both. I probably edge towards Hazel though.

Phyllis321 · 14/06/2021 16:42

I like Nick Drake so I'd go for Hazel Jane every time Smile.

Toilenstripes · 14/06/2021 16:41

Definitely Margot. Hazel is awful.

LoopTheLoops · 14/06/2021 16:41

Hazel definitely

TatianaBis · 14/06/2021 16:40

Hazel sounds a bit stripper to me but I think it goes better with Eliza than Margot.
