I gave birth to our daughter on Friday but we can't decide on her name. We both like Leah, Lara and Elara which are all fairly similar just can't make a final decision as to which one so wondered what peopled thoughts were on them?

Of course Elara is a name . In Greek mythology she gave birth to Zuses' son. Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it's not a name 🤣

Congratulations!!

Am biased with Lara as I know a gorgeous funny clever one who melts my heart!

I love Leah but spelt Lia and this would be my choice out of your three

Elara isn't a name. It sounds like a brand of sanitary towels

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 14/06/2021 02:57

Well it's a biblical name so presumably has been spelt that way for some time !

I love Lara

Lara is lovely; I’m less keen on the other two but slightly prefer Elara to Leah.

But I’d go with Lara, OP - it’s pretty and classic and very elegant, and easy to spell (with the other two she will always be correcting people’s spelling!)

Congratulations!

Marry- to me Lea would be pronounced Lee whilst Leah is Lee-a but don't know how others would say it. Elara is from Greek mythology but can see why people might think we've just slapped an E onto Lara. I think I like that she could shorten it to Lara if she didn't like it.

I like Leah or Lara equally.

Congratulations!

Well, I'm not british but I always wondered what the point of the H in Leah could possibly be. Does it really change the pronunciation ? Sorry this always bugs me.

Anyway, I like Lara the most out of those. Elara feels like you just slapped an E in front of Lara for no particular reason ! Also makes me think of Lara Croft, good strong empowering name for a girl.

I like Leah. It's my sister's name and when I was young I always wished it was mine!
