Lilibet

I have always liked the name Lilibet (which is by the way a name quite popular in Central and South America) and we have been thinking to name our daughter Lilibet for quite a while. We were thrilled for this name to be chosen for the new Royal baby and I am sure it will become quite popular in the next few years. It is such a sweet name that combines vintage and witty in my view. Absolutely adorable.
What do you think? :-)

@Hallyup6

Too harsh sounding to me.

Or a tampon crossed with a bookies.

Haha 🤣
Talkwhilstyouwalk · 10/06/2021 20:17

I think it's a bit wet and also a nickname rather than one to put on the birth certificate. I prefer Elizabeth or Lilian.

Violetlavenders · 10/06/2021 20:17

It's a cute and infantile nickname for a child who can't pronounce Elizabeth.

KindnessCrusader · 10/06/2021 20:15

I'd think it was a bit strange to meet a baby Lilibet now to be totally honest. It's lovely for H&M because it means something special to them.

purplecorkheart · 10/06/2021 19:50

Not to my taste and imo better suited to a nickname. I think Lili is a lovely name and I would probably reverse the official name with the nickname. However not my choice.

BlueMoonxxx · 10/06/2021 19:50

@CirqueDeMorgue ahah, isn't that too long maybe? ;-)

orinocosfavoritecake · 10/06/2021 19:50

Love it.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 10/06/2021 19:49

Reminds me of gullivers travels , also why would you want a connection to this two loons!

BlueMoonxxx · 10/06/2021 19:48

@FierceBarrie Well, I thought about this name before them! :-) ahaha! I am happy they chose it anyway because I know many people here in the UK only knows it as the nickname of the Queen but it is actually a real name in other countries and now that they have named their baby Lilibet, it will stick in people's minds that it is a name! I also like that it has been used as a royal name, I think our little girl will like that :-) And yes, of course, we love the Queen, so .... :-) :-)

@BarbaraPapa

Witty, how?
Right??

I’m cringing hard at the OP…

Justmuddlingalong · 10/06/2021 19:41

It makes me think of elderly ladies who smell of lavender soap. But then I've got 3 DSs so what would I know.

BarbaraPapa · 10/06/2021 19:40

Witty, how?

CirqueDeMorgue · 10/06/2021 19:37

@AdaColeman

Not as pretty as "Her Majesty The Queen".
My DD's name ;)
AdaColeman · 10/06/2021 19:36

On a par with Princess and Baron.

Whatalottachocca · 10/06/2021 19:35

One of my friends said it sounds like a “rapper” name. Li’l Bit.

FierceBarrie · 10/06/2021 19:34

It’s lovely as a nickname for the Queen as a child because she couldn’t pronounce her own name.

Other than that - it’s contrived and random.

You were ‘thrilled’ when H&M chose it?

Now you’re just going to look as if you have zero imagination of your own, and are just copying a pair of rather tedious celebrities.

Why would you want to do that?

Vursayles · 10/06/2021 19:33

“ Or a tampon crossed with a bookies.”

😂😂😂 Brilliant.

I’m not a fan at all, it just sounds so twee and completely made up. I had no idea it was a name in its own right, but unfortunately now most people will assume you’ve just copied the Sussexes. If you love it though, go for it.

ConstanceMarkievicz · 10/06/2021 19:31

Eeeek
No.
Lily Beth I like but Lilibet sounds wrong

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 10/06/2021 19:31

It's cute and no more twee than the armies of Lily, Lily Grace, Lily Mae, Daisy, Rosie, Evie, Ellie, Millie, Molly Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail out there

AdaColeman · 10/06/2021 19:30

Not as pretty as "Her Majesty The Queen".

Souther · 10/06/2021 19:29

I like the name.
It's cute, but will definitely become a lot more common now. So if you dont mind that, then carry on.

GameofPhones · 10/06/2021 19:28

Lovely name. Go for it!

Sleepingdogs12 · 10/06/2021 19:26

I am surprised you are thrilled ,usually people are upset if the name they love suddenly becomes popular or overused which might happen now with this one.

beans1992 · 10/06/2021 19:21

It’s awful. I can see why they chose it as it’s got such meaning for them and Lily is a lovely shortening BUT it wouldn’t work on anyone else. Just call her Lily!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/06/2021 19:04

I think it's a lovely name.
I think everyone will think you've named her after their baby though.
