Daughters initials will be LMP

So, the name we have fallen in love with for our daughter is Lara and I want to give her my mother's name for her middle name which is Marjorie and her surname begins with P, making her initials LMP.... do you think this will affect her in later life being the abbreviation for 'Last Menstrual Period' - kids can be mean!!

I'd love to hear your thoughts....

I imagine that this is only something that pregnant people and women’s health care professionals might have at the forefront of their minds.

This. I've never even heard of this abbreviation. Actually I wouldn't even notice if someone's initials stood for an abbreviation of anything tbh

Cottoncandyandpeaches · 09/06/2021 12:14

My mother lost 3 babies before she had me
One babies initials would have been BRA-she didn’t notice until I was pregnant with no1 and was spelling out her name
That,I get but I wouldn’t worry about LMP-nobody will catch on or just add another name and have another look at how it pans out

RuthW · 09/06/2021 12:13

Add another name in so it's something like.

Laura Martha Anne Potts

I think it will be more awkward when she's an adult. I wouldn't do it.

lotstolose1 · 09/06/2021 12:12

I read the title and only came here to find out what LMP means Grin no I definitely don't think that would be an issue at all, I don't think I've ever worked out someone's initials and took the piss

ApolloandDaphne · 09/06/2021 12:11

@crumble82

I had to come on here to see what the problem was as had no idea what LMP stood for. I think you’re overthinking it and they’re both lovely names
Me too! I don't think it will ever be an issue.
highlighteryellow · 09/06/2021 12:10

Until I got pregnant I had never heard of LMP!

Lara is a beautiful name.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 09/06/2021 12:10

@Lucykbw

Thanks everyone, definitely feel better now, you are all so right that you would only know that if you had come across it.

I think it's because I know what it means I can't get it out of my head 🙈

Even so. When are you ever going to use their initials? Maybe on their school clothes, but not necessarily. By the time you've got a five year old you'll be well over it.
Herecomesanothernamechange · 09/06/2021 12:08

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Give her another name to make it 4 initials?

Not Anna, Ingrid, or Ursula, though.

Hallyup6 · 09/06/2021 12:08

Only a pregnant woman or midwife would know that abbreviation and nobody would care anyway. I guarantee you that your own initials will mean something to someone but you're completely unaware of it. As long as they don't spell something dodgy then I think you're fine.

And Lara is beautiful btw.

Jellybabiesforbreakfast · 09/06/2021 12:06

Had we picked our favourite first name and middle name for our DC, our DC's initials would have been BAD. I don't think LMP is a big problem.

DoodleBelle · 09/06/2021 12:05

Another one who clicked on the thread to find out what the problem was. Complete non-issue and a lovely name! Congrats OP

Lucykbw · 09/06/2021 12:04

I'm liking the lemon meringue pie substitute. I also now want lemon meringue pie.....

L123A · 09/06/2021 12:04

I’d be more likely to think limp is a potential issue but not really even then

CutieBear · 09/06/2021 12:04

I’ve never heard of LMP.

grapewine · 09/06/2021 12:02

Just substitute with lemon meringue pie in your head, as per PP 😊 It's a lovely name.

You are massively over thinking. Only pregnant women or women ttc even know what LMP stands for tbh so school kids definitely won't be a problem

HUCKMUCK · 09/06/2021 11:57

Even if they know what LMP means in terms of periods, I'm not sure how many kids know each others full intials? I'm pretty sure my DS 16 doesn't know many of his friends middle names.

PegPeople · 09/06/2021 11:55

No one is going to make that connection. You are massively over thinking it. Smile

I had to Google LMP when filling out the form to be referred to a midwife when pregnant because I had absolutely no clue what it stood for. I eventually found a result explaining it but only by adding pregnancy to the end of the search. Grin

CoronaBanana · 09/06/2021 11:54

You what?

SoMuchForSummerLove · 09/06/2021 11:52

Really?? Who would think that without it being pointed out to them?

I don't think I've ever written my kids initials out, it's hardly an every day sort of issue.

Waaaaaay overthinking.

BikeRunSki · 09/06/2021 11:49

MindyStClaire · 09/06/2021 11:46

I think even most women don't know LMP unless they've been on conception boards.

Any combination of three letters will be an acronym for something, unless it's very obvious or rude I wouldn't let it put me off.

stuntfarter · 09/06/2021 11:46

I had no idea LMP stood for anything ,
Lara is a truly lovely name

MoonCatcher · 09/06/2021 11:43

I had to discount a name for my daughter because it came out as Rip 😔
