Fox or Honeychurch.

Asking for a friend who is changing her name after a difficult, to say the least, relationship. They are both family names. She can't decide which to choose.(I wish my surname was half as nice.)

She has a 4 syllable name if it makes any difference.

TIA

@IdblowJonSnow

I prefer honeychurch by a mile but with a long first name? Maybe not. Depends what it is.

Also there will be very few honeychurches so they'll be very distinctive/easily identifiable which they may or may not like.

Yes, I ended up sitting here saying it aloud with different four syllable Christian names.

Elizabeth Honeychurch
Victoria Honeychurch
Gabriella Honeychurch
Magdalena Honeychurch
Alexandra Honeychurch
Calliope Honeychurch
Isadora Honeychurch
Penelope Honeychurch

I actually think it balances well with longer names.

Foxes are mean. They attack rabbits. Honeychurch it a bit.. chintzy? Not sure I'd want either tbh!

Definitely Fox

diddlediddledump · 10/06/2021 00:16

Oh wow both are gorgeous surnames, I I'm watching Greys Anatomy right now where Catherine Avery changes her surname to Catherine Fox and it sounds extremely charming.

RickiTarr · 10/06/2021 00:05

Honeychurch is lovely. Reminds me of Room with A View.

This.

DalPalak · 10/06/2021 00:04

How could anyone pass up the chance to be Ms. Honeychurch? It's adorable Smile

CoffeeRunner · 10/06/2021 00:01

Honeychurch for sure.

SocialAffairsAndWoodlandFolk · 09/06/2021 23:57

Fox. There are a few people with the surname who I wouldn't want to be associated with but Honeychurch sounds so twee.

Onlinedilema · 09/06/2021 23:53

Honeychurch.

TripleSeptic · 09/06/2021 21:11

@Riapia

Veronica Fox. “Does she”?

Sorry.

Fabulous!
MrsCrosbyNRTB · 09/06/2021 20:43

Honeychurch 100% even with a long first name. It’s wonderful. I knew someone with the surname Honeybun who married someone with SUCH a dull surname and changed it to that. Her choice obvs but I wouldn’t have! Grin

Spied · 09/06/2021 20:37

Honeychurch-Fox

Utterly charming. I say go for it.

AbstractHeart · 09/06/2021 20:35

I know two (unrelated) people who changed their surname to Fox! Honeychurch is far more original

Borgonzola · 09/06/2021 20:33

Combine them.

HONEYFOX

Grin
FindingMeno · 09/06/2021 20:24

Honeychurch makes me think of floral, village fetes and cream teas so it's charming.
Fox makes me think modern and businesslike.
Fox would be my choice.

DotsandCo · 09/06/2021 20:21

I think Honeychurch flows much better after a 4 syllable name actually:

Izabella Honeychurch sounds lustrous, whereas Izabella Fox just sort of falls flat!

Honeychurch, definitely 🥰

Serpenta · 09/06/2021 19:12

'Persephone Fox-Honeychurch'

If Alan Partridge was moonlighting as a Mills and Boon novelist that's the kind of name he'd pick.

Bumpsadaisie · 09/06/2021 19:10

Victoria Fox-Honeychurch

Alexandra Fox-Honeychurch

Persephone Fox-Honeychurch

All fab!

VenusClapTrap · 09/06/2021 19:02

Honeychurch is fabulous

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/06/2021 07:38

Both lovely. My only concern about Fox is that people may ask/wonder if you're related to Laurence Fox, or even worse inspired by him! I don't think it would put me off though. Fox just feels a better fit for someone who is creating a new life following adversity.

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 09/06/2021 07:33

Loving Honeychurch and I think it'd be extra special following a 4 syllable first name. No need to be so conservative as Fox, as lovely as it is.

BlackCatsRule88 · 09/06/2021 06:52

You mention she’s changing it after a bad relationship - my only thought would be how anonymous she wants to be in the future. As lovely as it is, it’ll be a lot easier to find a Honeychurch on Google than a Fox.

SoapboxFox · 09/06/2021 05:04

Honeychurch

alexdgr8 · 09/06/2021 04:17

why not have honeychurch as an extra middle name, and fox as surname.
so eg ,
penelope fox for everyday use;
penelope jessica honeychurch fox, for the whole shebang.
sounds impressive. and unusual. a good new identity.
