In order of preference:

  1. Lucia
  2. Alice
  3. Cicely
  4. Scarlett
  5. Thea
  6. Rosanna
  7. Helena
  8. Tansy

The only two I really don't like are Helena and Tansy.

PetraRabbit · 10/06/2021 23:27

Favourite- Helena
Next favourite- Rosanna

Least favourite- Thea

KirstenBlest · 10/06/2021 12:33

The uses of tansy as a 'medicinal herb' aren't very nice either.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 10/06/2021 12:10

Tansy No not related and a bit naff

Yeah, I think most people are aware Tansy is a plant, but to me it sounds slightly cutesy - though less than Poppy (which I similarly prefer as a nn for something like Penelope, I've even heard it used for for Philippa). I suppose it's personal taste.

Bimblybomeyelash · 10/06/2021 09:26

Cicely - pretty and Cici is a cute nn
Rosanna - Anna or AHna?
Alice - lovely
Lucia - I like. Is it ‘see-a’ or ‘ Chi-a’
Scarlett - meh
Helena : Hel-A-na or Hel-en-na
Tansy - nope
Thea - I really dislike this name. I don’t understand why it is so popular.

CherryonBiscuit · 10/06/2021 09:21

I like Rosanna and Thea best

SinisterBumFacedCat · 10/06/2021 00:07

I like Lucia, Scarlet and Helena.

KirstenBlest · 09/06/2021 23:58

Tansy - cutesy so feels more like a nn somehow (for Tamsin/Thomasin?)

Tansy No not related and a bit naff

MyPanda · 09/06/2021 23:08

Nice list!

Tansy is my favourite.

TatianaBis · 09/06/2021 23:04

I much prefer Cicely to Cecily - the latter is wet. I don’t agree that Cecily is more well known I’d say they’re equal.

reallyalurker · 09/06/2021 23:02

1 Tansy (would need a stronger more formal middle name I think)
2 Rosanna (though would want to find an alternative to Rosie as short form)
3 Helena
4 Cicely
5 Thea
6 Alice
7 Lucia
8 Scarlett

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/06/2021 01:14

6.Cicely - nice and historical but I much prefer the more well known Cecily
3.Rosanna - one of the nicest "blended" names (Rose and Anna) but I still prefer the individual names

  1. Alice - simple, classic, timeless, fairly popular - pretty much a can't go wrong name
5.Lucia - elegant and exotic but 3 different pronunciations! 8.Scarlett - has a harsh unpleasant sound to me 1.Helena - underused Shakespearean elegance combined with mutiple nn choices (its perfect imo apart from possible pronunciation issues again Sad) 7.Tansy - cutesy so feels more like a nn somehow (for Tamsin/Thomasin?) 4.Thea - nice enough but quite trendy
Twillow · 09/06/2021 00:56

2 Cicely
7 Rosanna
6 Alice
4 Lucia
3 Scarlett
5 Helena
1 Tansy
8 Thea

partyatthepalace · 09/06/2021 00:40
  1. Helena - elegant, great history, minor irritation over varied pronunciation but can’t really go wrong
  2. Rosanna - lovely but blurs with all the other Rose names
  3. Lucia - not mad about it but it has spirit
  4. Alice - a charming classic but way overused
  1. Scarlett - I half like it but it’s gone downmarket
  2. Thea - meh
  3. Cicely - no - lipsy - but I would put Cecily of Cecilia at number 1
  4. Tansy - no, wetter than Poppy and Lily, which is saying something.
olidora63 · 09/06/2021 00:23

Tillygetsit · 08/06/2021 22:54

Lucia and Helena are my favourites, beautiful names!

The rest I quite like as well apart from Tansy, Scarlett, and Alice, which I'm really not keen on.

Twelve8Ts · 08/06/2021 22:34

I love Cicely, was on my list. Cicely Hamilton was a feminist and suffragist and I fell in love with this name when I saw it.

Lucia second favorite.

Biscuitsneeded · 08/06/2021 21:34

Helena
Thea
Rosanna
Alice
Lucia
Cicely
Tansy
Scarlett

I prefer unfussy, more traditional names. Love Helena .

RestingStitchFace · 08/06/2021 21:30

In order of preference
Alice
Helena
Cicely
Rosanna
Lucia
Scarlett
Tansy
Thea

Mugsen · 08/06/2021 21:03

I like Tansy and Lucia best. Cicely is an awful mouthful. Not keen on Thea because I knew a horrible one. Alice, Scarlett and Roseanna are nice enough though.

Raindropumbrella · 08/06/2021 21:00

Cicely- -5/10
Rosanna 8/10
Alice. 4/10
Lucia. -1/10
Scarlett. 3/10
Helena. 7/10
Tansy. 8/10
Thea. 2/10

DramaAlpaca · 08/06/2021 20:53

Cicely - like a lot, but will get muddled with the even nicer Cecily
Rosanna - gorgeous, my favourite 'rose' name
Alice - love it, classic and simple
Lucia - OK, but prefer Lucy
Scarlett - not as classy as the above
Helena - nice, but has three possible pronunciations
Tansy - a sweet nickname, but too twee for a name in its own right. It also just autocorrected to Randy on my tablet Grin
Thea - no, it's a horrid, nothingy, lispy name.

KirstenBlest · 08/06/2021 20:37

Cicely - nice but will get spelt Cecily which is too Cecil-y for my liking
Rosanna - nice
Alice - would use it
Lucia - Loosha, Loo-see-a or Lootcha?
Scarlett - ok
Helena - prefer Helen
Tansy - ok
Thea - don't liike

Alice, Cicely or Rosanna
