What "fun" name did you give your child whilst pregnant?

My DD has a perfectly normal name. But during pregnancy I called her "The Papaya" and made sure everyone else did too. The reason? At the time of my anomaly scan the NHS website said that was her size! (I didn't announce my pregnancy until after that - long story.)

Anyway, just wondered what fun names people had called their own bumps. I was Gary btw!

Banjo.

While I was pregnant we saw a chalk board outside a pub advertising a gig by someone called ‘Banjo ’ I said what an amazing name and we told everyone that’s what we were going to name him. The relief from some relatives who were too polite to say once he was born and we introduced him by his real name was hilarious 😂

We used to call DS 'Pitt the Embryo'. If you've seen the Blackadder episode with Pitt the Even Younger then it might make a small amount of sense Blush

Not quite the same but I posted a pic of DD on an Internet forum when she was about two days old because we just couldn’t settle on a name. One person replied with “Never mind Anna or Mary, you should call her Squidgy McGorgeous!”. She’s now nearly four and still called that at home, though if you ask her she’ll say Squidgy Bum Bum Natasha McGorgeous.

She has christened her two siblings (due Autumn) Pancake and Snuffle.

When I told my family the baby was the size of a sprinkle so that's what my family call it. I refer to it as the little bean. Tomorrow it's the size of a doughnut 🍩 🙂

DS1 was Fidel (as in Castro). I am not sure exactly why but then he is almost 22.

Pretty good name I think now, tho I prefer his real name. I think maybe we did it to horrify my mum and then make her more accepting of his actual name (which I knew she would hate and find "old-fashioned dear" tho now it is in the top 10!)

Nancy Knickers (no idea why, it just sounded nice) or Elvis when I wanted to annoy MIL
Born early with no name agreed she very nearly ended up as Nancy....lovely name but too heavily invested in Nancy Knickers .. it would have stuck.

Borka · 08/06/2021 15:54

Nessie - as in Loch Ness Monster

DH picked the weirdest name on our baby name list and started jokingly calling her "Little Strangename"

Of course, we both got used to it and actually gave her the name when she was born Grin
