What do you think of Bambi for a girls name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You could be going to Italy 6 times a year but if you're bringing your dd up in the UK the rest of the time then it's a no

Phrowzunn · 06/06/2021 22:40

🤦🏻‍♀️

Mousetown · 06/06/2021 22:39

@DalPalak

Isn't baby girl "bambina" in Italian? That's not used as a proper name though. It's just an odd choice. I would find Bambi quite a burdensome name to live with.

If you want something with a similar meaning, Alannah is a beautiful option.

Correct. Bambino is a male baby.

Never heard Bambi used as a name in Italy.

caringcarer · 06/06/2021 22:37

Reminds me of the Disney deer. Not really a name for a human.

BilboBercow · 06/06/2021 22:36

Honestly I thought sex worker. Please don't

WeAreTheHeroes · 06/06/2021 22:35

@Serpenta

There is a Bambi in one of the James Bond films. She strangles people with her thighs. Which is impressive in its own way.

Not a great name for your baby, OP.

You beat me to it.
Kintsugi16 · 06/06/2021 22:34

Just no ....

Stripper name only.
It’s right up there with Lola

Shannith · 06/06/2021 22:31

So baby is the word for a baby in the English speaking word...so just call her Baby if that's your thought process.

Would you call her Baby or Babs as a diminutive? If not then Bambi (short for bambino) also doesn't make sense.

Great as a nickname. Terrible as a name for this and all the other reasons mentioned.

You did ask.

Luckingfovely · 06/06/2021 22:30

Oh dear Lord no!

ThrobbingToothacheOfTheMind · 06/06/2021 22:25

What about Thumper?

BrownEyedGirl80 · 06/06/2021 22:25

If I get another chihuahua I'd consider it but not for a baby

PainterInPeril · 06/06/2021 22:22

@Rubbishatchoosingusernames You beat me to it!

Bumzoo · 06/06/2021 22:21

I've not heard bambino/a shortened to bambi before.

AngeloMysterioso · 06/06/2021 22:18

With that name, they’re either a stripper/porn actress or someone born into such ridiculous wealth and privilege that they don’t ever have to worry about being taken seriously.

Regularsizedrudy · 06/06/2021 22:13

Oh my god are you insane? Is awful.

DinaofCloud9 · 06/06/2021 22:12

Some of the names I read on mumsnet have me baffled. Bambi? Really?

StarryStarrySocks · 06/06/2021 22:11

I prefer Thumper, personally.

Cheeseplantandpickle · 06/06/2021 22:09

Terrible

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 06/06/2021 22:08

Nobody puts Bambi in the corner.

ShonkyCat · 06/06/2021 22:07

@partyatthepalace

Oh Christ no - that really Is a porn actress name.

In Italy it’s just short for bambino - which means child not baby girl - and I’ve never heard anyone being called that - it would be weird.

Anyway NO

Do Italians actually use bambi as a short form of bambino/bambina?

I know that bimbo and bimba are used but I wouldn't recommend either of those!

Why not use an actual Italian name if you want something Italian, OP?

Serpenta · 06/06/2021 22:05

@shuz1980

Bambi is an Italian girls name that means baby girl. Thanks for all the feedback though.
It's Bambino not Bambi.
RiaOverTheRainbow · 06/06/2021 22:03

Even as a shortening of bambina, you'd effectively be naming your dd 'Baby' or 'Girl'. Cute nickname for an under-five, ridiculous on an adult, sorry.

FindingMeno · 06/06/2021 21:58

I like it.

BlueDucky · 06/06/2021 21:55

No
