A sister for Seren

Have found out this weekend that DC2 is another little girl. We already have Seren, DP has Welsh heritage without being truly Welsh and we are in England.
I think my shortlist is quite a random mix of Cerys (don't like Carys so much) or Elin for another easy Welsh name, or Charlotte or Lucy.
DP has his heart set on a really Welsh name that I really don't like and he got to pick DD's name so I've vetoed it but it would actually work as a middle name with either Charlotte or Lucy. We aren't too worried about middle names and won't have to worry about family names being used as there's too many women to keep them all happy 😂 Surname is two syllables and sounds fine with all four of my choices.

Any thoughts to help me narrow it down?

@whiteflower84 how is Swyn pronounced?

I like Nia

I’m confused now because I didn’t think Seren and Elin rhymed?! I like them both (the way I’m pronouncing them!).

I live in Wales and know a little Loti and a Lwsi.

Eris

whiteflower84 · 06/06/2021 18:47

Personally I like Cadi Swyn (cadi is a non for catrin)

I'm Welsh, have a Welsh name.. how about

Cadi

Elen
Llinos
Lowri
Eleri

I think you're right about Elin, I hadn't noticed before but yes I think that is probably one off the list on that basis! We've got Megan and Bethan in close family already so that was two less to pick from.

I like Alys but DP was a big no to that...Eleri is one I'd forgotten too 🤔 maybe a replacement for Elin on my little list?

There are a lot of names for girls in Welsh that I don't like but one I've always loved is Megan. I have a friend whose little one is called Lowri and I quite like that too.

LahndonTown · 06/06/2021 18:22

I have a Carys, she often gets called Cerys by people who don't hear or forget easily, so be prepared if you name her Cerys!

We're in the same position, we live in Wales and I have distant Welsh heritage but DH and I are English. We're due DD2 soon and we're really stuck for names and can't decide. One name we've ruled out is Alys because it's too similar to DDs name.

We also considered Ffion and agree with PP re the rhyming for Elin with Seren.

Good luck and congrats!

lavenderandwisteria · 06/06/2021 18:15

I really like Charlotte and Lucy.

I am not really keen on most welsh names for girls though, apart from Eleri.

partyatthepalace · 06/06/2021 18:13

Can I add Ffion?! I love it - but otherwise Cerys is great.

Elin too rhymey with Seren, and Charlotte and Lucy are so overused.
