Clearly an attention seeking move designed to keep them in the spotlight. If they wanted to use family names why is no one from Meghan's side included

Yes because it's the law you HAVE to have names from EACH side of the family if you use family names. 🙄

Jeez.

I think it's a bit trite and unimaginative tbh. Also that poor kid. It's like having other people's names rather than your own.
Lili is ok.

Thank you. Smile

LOL at the people saying "Other people are called Lilibet too, you know?" and "They're just using Gramma's name---what could be nicer?"

Lilibet is a very, very unusual name--of course they are not using it by blind coincidence. And, honestly, it truly is weird to use Grandma's name for a new baby when you, the parents, have just had a big public row with that side of the family.

Tone deaf, poorly advised.

@itsgettingwierd

I like it.

And I think Archie and Lili sound lovely together for sibling names.

I actually like the fact they've stepped away from traditional rosy all names that come out over and over (they each have about 5 each!).

I also like that they have others such as Savannah, Lena, Mia, Isla, August and Lucas.

Lili does sound nice (spelt Lily it would have been better.)

It's the fact that they used the Queen's pet name - Lilibet - when they show such disdain towards the Royal family, and everything it represents, and wanted to distance themselves from it. (Well, until it suits them to be part of it...) Hmm

They wanted it all. They wanted to be independent, and to not have to be arsed with Royal duties, but they wanted to keep the Royal titles. They were refused, and told 'you don't get to have it both ways; you're in or you're out.' They chose OUT ... (Well Meghan did as she dragged Harry across to America, 6000 miles away from his family and friends.)

They then said they want no publicity, but have pushed their face into - and ONTO - everything, then cried off when people try to report anything on them. They constantly complain about how awful we all are, and Meghan chucks in all sorts of nasty accusations against the Royal family, and Harry calls it a prison and a cult. Yet here they are using the Queen's pet name for their daughter's name!

Every day that passes, they get more ludicrous and dislikeable.

I agree with previous posters; it's massively attention seeking, almost the the point of being desperate. As I said earlier, they're the most irksome pair to ever emerge from the Royal Family. They are actually an utter embarrassment. I bet the Queen facepalms every time she hears their names mentioned.

WouldBeGood · 07/06/2021 22:58

Absolutely ridiculous and yet one more reason to get rid of the royals

littlepattilou · 07/06/2021 22:57

Sorry.. Blush

@Notsogreenthumb I get what you mean. Smile

I just think Lily Diana has a better ring to it. Grin

Notsogreenthumb · 07/06/2021 21:21

@littlepattilou I agree Lily Diana sounds nicer, I just meant in terms of sentiment I'd have put Diana first. Lilibet is not my cup of tea at all.

mumjustmum · 07/06/2021 21:19

Wouldn't have picked it. Don't like it. Equally though, bit bored of Meghan and Harry, wish them well in their new lives. Bbbbbbbbbbbye now!

littlepattilou · 07/06/2021 21:15

@Notsogreenthumb

I could careless what they name their baby but I'd personally have done Diana first, what being Harry's mother and all but that's a personal choice. Whatever makes them happy, I hope they don't feel obliged to make amends or whatever.
Lily Diana would have been nice. It sounds lovely.

Someone on another thread yesterday suggested Doria Diana. Confused

No. Sorry to sound rude, but Doria is not a name I would be giving my baby girl.

Notsogreenthumb · 07/06/2021 21:10

@TatianaBis buffy is from Elizabeth??!! Oh God that's awful Confused

@PresentingPercy

Millions of people have not been happy about their public way Harry has talked about his family in a negative way and in particular parenting skills. Meghan has had her long interview and lied about a secret marriage and several other things. The are, nonetheless, still part of the RF and are very much putting themselves in the public domain whilst saying they want privacy. No doubt there wont be pictures of the baby and I’d be more than happy, personally, if they shut up and disappeared from public view instead of criticising and lecturing. It’s a childish name used by a childish couple calculating how to get attention. And it worked.
100% this. Well said!

I don't like them using name, and feel (like some others) that it's a bit of an insult to the Royal Family. Harry and Meghan wanted to distance themselves from the Royal Family, and yet they call their daughter the Queen's pet name. Hmm

As has been said, they want publicity when it suits them, they want privacy when it suits them, they want to be a member of the Royal Family when it suits them, they want to use the Royal titles when it suits them, they want to bash the Royal Family when it suits them.

I used to think they were OK, and liked them as a couple, but I have really gone off them this past year and a half. They are the most irksome pair to come out of the Royal Family that I have ever known...

And Lilibet isn't even a real name FFS. No more than Liz or Betty is!

Doggyperson · 07/06/2021 20:48

I think they're a pair of cheeky buggers. Wanting to distance themselves from the royal family then using the queen's name her father used. I'd be very pissed off if I was the queen.

What planet are these two on?!
