Disclaimer- I don’t have any strong feelings about H&M one way or the other.

Bloody dreadful name. Imagine being a woman in her mid-thirties answering to Lilibet. It’s everything I hate in a name- twee, babyish, a nickname and doesn’t suit anyone over the age of four.

Plus Doria is an absolutely fabulous name which would have worked really well with Diana.

I do hope though that they’re having a chilled out few days with the new addition without M having to parade herself and her new born around in front of a load of photographers whilst still wearing super-duper maternity pads.

Agree with most of this - I don’t think Doria Diana sounds good but they’re both great names on their own.

Lilibet isn’t even a name FFS, however I find Archie Harrison ridiculous too so I suppose I prefer more traditional royal names, I love the name Louis for example.

MrsBobDylan · 06/06/2021 20:25

I don't mind the name at all but I find the whole situation a bit of a head fuck. Harry talks about his Dad's failings as a parent and attributes them to his upbringing by his Mum, the Queen.

Naming your child after your Gran's childhood nickname is very personal and intimate.

I am genuinely clueless as to what's going on.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/06/2021 20:15

Lilibet sounds really hard and unpleasant to my ear. Just Lily would have been much better.

Beautiful x

@Twizbe

A few weeks back there was a poster on here asking about Lilibet for a girls name - I wonder ....

Personally I don't like it as it's a nickname not a full name, but I think the sentiment is sweet.

But tbf I don't like Archie either so I obviously have a different taste in names.

Lili is nice, but I'd prefer Lily.

I find Lilibet as a given name to be a bit incongruous with a couple who've been airing their family gripes to anyone who'll listen, accused one family of being racist, and made a public departure from a family they've deemed harmful.

The cynic is me wonders if it's all about keeping the royal links as without that they're just a pair of celebrities who want a platform to talk about themselves and lecture the rest of us.

Thesearmsofmine · 06/06/2021 19:52

I think Lilibet is too nicknamey and feels a bit of an odd choice with the way they have openly talked about the rf. It makes me think of The Crown(before watching it I had no idea about it being the queens nickname). Lily would have been nicer imo, still a nod to queen of that is what they wanted but without directly using the nickname.

Exactly this.

I had guessed Lili (Lilly) as, like Archie, it's one of the most usual names you find in schools in very average areas in the UK where I live My money is on their next child being called Albie.

ikeepseeingit · 06/06/2021 19:48

I think it’s cute! Good for them.

slb24 · 06/06/2021 19:48

That may be so, but I'm just not a fan! Smile

RickiTarr · 06/06/2021 19:44

@slb24

I actually love the name Lilibet, I think it's so sweet but I hate the way they're choosing the spell Lili. Tbh I don't really like names that end in i in general, but I'm really not a fan of the fact they'll be calling her Lili, just calling her Lilibet or spelling it Lily would be better.
It’s just the German spelling. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I like the name but find it incredibly strange that they want to move away from royal life, call the RF racist and bad mouth Charles for his upbringing (obviously including the Queen) and subsequent treatment of his sons, but then name their daughter a very personal name from within the royal family. They couldn't have chosen a more directly connected name to the RF.

Bellevu · 06/06/2021 18:35

@Longdistance

Already used for William and Katharine’s Charlotte. She is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
@longdistance

Considering Kate and William copied names from Earl Spencer (he had a Charlotte Diana first) I doubt she'd make a fuss.

whiteroseredrose · 06/06/2021 18:26

I think it's a bit silly TBH. Apparently Lilibet was what her sister called her because she was tiny and couldn't say Elizabeth. So she's stuck with a mispronunciation.

Mind you I think Harrison is daft and twee too.

RickiTarr · 06/06/2021 18:15

@WallaceinAnderland

Why is Harry's surname Mountbatten-Windsor? I never realised that they royals had hyphehnated surnames. Is it William's surname too?
It was announced in the 60s that descendants of Elizabeth II (Windsor) and Philip (Mountbatten) could use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor when they needed one, so that’s mostly those without a title.

William & Harry were known as William Wales & Harry Wales at school and in the forces.

George & Charlotte are known as George & Charlotte Cambridge at School.

So, depending on titles and family structure, there is sometimes a choice.

Mabelene · 06/06/2021 18:03

Ridiculous.

TatianaBis · 06/06/2021 18:02

I can’t stand diminutives for Elizabeth whether Lilibet or Libby or Buffy. Lily or Elizabeth are fine. Prefer Lily.

HoikingUpMyBigGirlPantss · 06/06/2021 18:01

I think its a lovely choice! Smile

VettiyaIruken · 06/06/2021 18:00

It's nice.

NotNowPlzz · 06/06/2021 18:00

Love it

mammmamia · 06/06/2021 17:59

I think it’s dreadful, Lily Diana would have been lovely and a nod to Lilibet. Or even something like Eliza Diana

Aspiringmatriarch · 06/06/2021 17:59

Sorry, meant to say subtlety, but subtly!
