My mil is Elisabeth she finds the ‘s’ a bit annoying and wishes her parents had just spelt it with a z.
Personally I think it’s fine either way.
Much prefer Elisabeth over Olivia.

Keepitcleanplease · 07/06/2021 00:03

Elizabeth or Elisabeth. Lovely.

SilverBangle · 06/06/2021 23:59

Elizabeth, with a Z.

SionnachRua · 06/06/2021 23:52

Elisabeth by a mile (and that spelling is much more attractive than Elizabeth).Olivia is a snoozefest.

PosyBoo · 06/06/2021 23:31

Elisabeth. We couldn’t decide between Olivia and Elizabeth for a middle name but went with Elizabeth once DD arrived and so pleased we did!

Violetlavenders · 06/06/2021 15:53

Is it pronounced Elisa-beth?

Yes, it's pronounced El is a beth.

Just like Elizabeth. El iz a beth.

musthavebeenlove · 06/06/2021 14:11

Olivia is nice.
Elisabeth is magnificent.

BlueDucky · 06/06/2021 14:10

Is it pronounced Elisa-beth? Quite nice. I prefer it to Olivia

Violetlavenders · 06/06/2021 14:03

Elisabeth

Olivia is soooo overused and dull...!!

Raindropumbrella · 06/06/2021 10:20

Elizabeth

CaffiSaliMali · 06/06/2021 10:17

I like Elisabeth with an S, that spelling is used in lots of countries and cultures. I think it looks prettier than Elizabeth.

I work with an Elisabeth and people seem to be able to spell it.

Alodia · 06/06/2021 07:48

I pronounce Elisabeth just like Elizabeth but with a softer "S" sound.

Tillygetsit · 05/06/2021 22:46

Elisabeth with that spelling.

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 05/06/2021 22:33

EliZabeth

Ellie/Elle/Ella
Eliza
Elsie
Liz
Lizzie
Libby
Liza
Beth
Bess
Bessie
Betty
Betsy
Lily(?)

And I've probably missed loads out classic and versatile.

I'd choose Elizabeth if you are in the UK - it's the most timeless women's name with some amazing namesakes (and currently the least popular of the two). But I'd spell it with a Z otherwise she'll likely spend her life saying "Elisabeth with an S".

If you hate it with the Z, then I'd go for Olivia - super popular but the bonus of that is that everyone will know how to say and spell it.

oioisaveloy108 · 05/06/2021 22:06

How is Elisabeth pronounced?

MyPanda · 05/06/2021 21:55

Elisabeth

Germolenequeen · 05/06/2021 21:47

Like Olivia best myself

Ughmaybenot · 05/06/2021 21:45

Elisabeth for sure!

mamablondie33 · 05/06/2021 21:43

Elizabeth! So many nickname options too. Olivia is extremely overused- every group, soft play, day out we go on there’s at least one! Popular is one thing but Olivia really is everywhere.

myfuckingfreezer · 05/06/2021 21:11

Presumably Elisabeth is pronounced differently to Elizabeth?

As in Eleesa Beth? Or Elisa Beth?

Serpenta · 05/06/2021 21:07

Elisabeth.

I personally much prefer the S spelling to the Z.

mrwalkensir · 05/06/2021 21:05

and it's great because it has so many different shortened versions. So nicknames can be appropriate however she turns out

mrwalkensir · 05/06/2021 21:04

Elisabeth is the Welsh, German, French, Greek, Elisabeth Beresford one....
