Thoughts on the name Caia Nicole

Hey! We were having a hard time deciding between Caia and Romi. I love them both. Almost sure we will go for Caia. I wanted to give her a middle name that refers to someone we love. Nicole is the name of her grandma. I realize it’s not the most modern name. Is it too dated? Do they go together? Hate or love?
Thank you!

The Renault ads were great and made the Clio seem aspirational. People really fancied Nicole! I remember there was great excitement when they reunited a decade later to make a follow up ad.

Ifixfastjets · 04/06/2021 09:48

I would love to be called caia nicole.
Beautiful name.

Dutchmom1984 · 04/06/2021 08:16

I just googled the Renault advert. Haha. The girl is beautiful and it’s not one of those obnoxious advertisements imo. Displaying the father daughter dynamic - quite sweet. I also love France and I’m there a lot for work. Anyway, I’m choosing it mainly because it’s her grandma’s name and she means a lot to us and I know it will mean a lot to her. It’s not the most beautiful and modern name in the world but it works well and is def more orginal than another Grace, Rose or Mae (all beautiful names though!) which would be referring to nothing in my case. The mostly positive comments convinced me to go for Caia Nicole. I hope my daughter will like it 😊Thank you!!

I guess the fact that when you say Nicole I immediately say 'papa' dates me terribly!!

Checkingout811 · 03/06/2021 22:55

I would’ve assumed it was Kaya not Kya

idontlikealdi · 03/06/2021 22:54

I LOVE Romi, for Romilly

SionnachRua · 03/06/2021 22:24

There's something really refreshing about Nicole as a middle name. God knows it stands from the Rose and Grace names floating about, anyway.

Plus, it'll probably start coming into fashion again when she's an adult. Win win. Grin

Raindropumbrella · 03/06/2021 22:19

@LookItsMeAgain Kia is pronounced like Key-uh though isn’t it?

RulesRulesRulesRulesRules · 03/06/2021 21:58

I like it.

partyatthepalace · 03/06/2021 19:56

@applespearslemons

Both names a bit Essex girl IMO. Sorry
It’s a Roman goddesses name, like Gaia

🤣

KezzabellaB · 03/06/2021 19:52

I really like it!

Dutchmom1984 · 03/06/2021 19:50

Thank you all! So helpful! Finding a name and sticking with it is so tricky. I agree, spelling it with a K is more common but I just love the letter C, it’s elegant and it’s not a made up name or anything. Caia is the Latin spelling and means to rejoice. And I don’t think people will have a hard time pronouncing it. She might have to tell them to spell it with a C all her life but that’s an issue with so many names! I myself have that issue with my name and don’t mind. Nicole wasn’t a name on my list but I do feel it has a timeless beauty to it and that it has a family connection. It is quite old fashioned, that’s a bit of concern. Not familiar with Renault Clio ads, maybe because I’m Dutch. So not an issue really. I still love Romi too!

Caia is a great name! I think it's very pretty with Nicole.

Dutchmom1984 · 03/06/2021 19:35

Thank you! And yes, I prefer the French pronunciation of Nicole as well.

@alexdgr8

no. why give the child, then adult, a life of having to explain and spell their name. imagine over the phone, ringing utilities, the council. endless hassle. all quite unnecessary.
That could apply to most names though. Even something like John / Jon, Eva / Ava or Claire / Clare / Clair. And as someone who has a name you do have to spell out constantly, it’s not that much of a hassle.

I haven’t heard of Caia before, but I really like it. Not so keen on Nicole as a name, but they flow quite well together.

Serpenta · 03/06/2021 19:25

*rather than a random name that goes well

Serpenta · 03/06/2021 19:24

I've never come across Caia before but it's lovely. And I think it goes very well with Nicole. I like middle names that have a family connection, rather than something that 'goes well'. Smile

FelicityPike · 03/06/2021 19:19

Love it.

LookItsMeAgain · 03/06/2021 19:18

Caia (pronouced like the car maker Kia)
Nicole (anyone for a Renault Clio)....Papa???

That's what jumped into my head when I saw the names....sorry...probably the last think you wanted to see.

alexdgr8 · 03/06/2021 19:16

@pigglepot

Why have you decided to go with that spelling of the first name? I think Kya or even Kaya is much kinder. She's going to spend her whole life spelling it and telling people how to pronounce it.
Because that’s how the name is spelt. It’s like saying you should spell Phoebe Feebee.

It’s a nice Op.

Orphlids · 03/06/2021 19:12

I prefer the similar sounding Gaia. But both Kaia and Romi are both nice enough, and Nicole sounds good with either. I think I prefer Romi Nicole.

daisypond · 03/06/2021 19:04

Caia is fine, though it’s not a name I know. Nicole is really nice. They go well together.

VienneseWhirligig · 03/06/2021 18:54

Caia is a very old name, it's pretty. I like it with Nicole.
