Wren or Ivy

Hello,

Thinking of naming our daughter who we are expecting next month all going well Ivy or Wren....we both struggle with girls names and so I'm happy to even have two we both like at this stage as with my last daughter we had nothing agreed on when she arrived.

I know the downside is Ivy is becoming extremely popular but I do really like it still.

What are your thoughts?

I love them both.

LawnFever · 02/06/2021 22:15

I love Wren, the only person I’ve ever known with the name was my great grandmother, I think it’s lovely

Cattenberg · 02/06/2021 22:09

Helen George’s daughter is called Wren Ivy.

I prefer Wren. Ivy makes me think of gothic architecture and cemeteries, though that’s probably irrational.

newreality1 · 02/06/2021 22:08

Wren is gorgeous. Though both names are lovely.

LeafBeetle · 02/06/2021 22:03

Ivy. Or I like Iris even more.

Enough4me · 02/06/2021 22:02

Ivy makes me think of IV fluids, so Wren.

DotDotDotDotDot · 02/06/2021 22:00

Of the two I’d choose Ivy, it just seems a stronger choice. Maybe Iris or Robin?

Chimchar · 02/06/2021 21:26

Wren. As soon as I read it I thought how lovely it is!

sunkiss · 02/06/2021 21:24

Ivy - really pretty name IMO

ElderMillennial · 02/06/2021 21:23

I have only heard of Wren as a male character in Pretty Little Liars but that's wasn't so recent

Serpenta · 02/06/2021 21:14

Where did this recent popularity for Wren come from? Is it celeb related?

helpmum2003 · 02/06/2021 21:13

Ivy.

I think Wren will date.

Toottooot · 02/06/2021 21:13

Wren - as in kitchens? Awful name.

mrsnarried · 02/06/2021 21:12

I like wren

AnyaMoondial · 02/06/2021 21:12

Ivy

mondler · 02/06/2021 21:11

I like both.

We had 2 top runners for DS. We waited until he was born and tried them out on him and one felt more 'right' than the other x

omgthepain · 02/06/2021 21:09

God neither!!!
Sorry they are both awful

biteysaurus · 02/06/2021 21:06

Wren

WhatMattersMost · 02/06/2021 21:03

Wren. Wren-Wren-Wren-Wren-Wren!

WREN!

daisypond · 02/06/2021 21:01

Ivy out of those, but I don’t like it.
Wren is a name that’ll date terribly - like Dawn.

Serpenta · 02/06/2021 20:59

I love Ren/ée though Smile

Serpenta · 02/06/2021 20:58

I'd worry Wren might be one of those names that comes out of nowhere, is really popular for five years and 30 years later is seen as a bit of a naff name of its time.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/06/2021 20:55

Ivy Wren would be nice

RedLemon · 02/06/2021 20:33

Both lovely! (No help.)

KirstenBlest · 02/06/2021 20:33

Dislike both.
Wren is a nice bird, Ivy is a horrible plant
