Last name is 2 syllables starting with C. We like strong, classic names that will age well and not be seen as “2021 trendy”

  1. Malcolm
  2. Alexander
  3. Simon
  4. Benjamin
  5. Jackson

I love Alexander from your list and lots of lovely nn choices Xander, Alex, Lex.

I like Alexander best. Unless you are Scottish and he will get called Eck!

I love Malcolm but it's very overused at the moment. And Jackson is really really not classic. The middle three are good.

I believe Simon, Benjamin, and Isaac are all Biblical Hebrew names, and in that sense, of the same genre. I feel that Simon and Benjamin "go best" with Isaac... if you care about that sort of thing. (Regardless of its origins and how it sounds next to Isaac, I do think that Simon happens to be the best of the list.) It would be quite nice to meet a baby Simon -- it's certainly not overly popular these days.

Alexander and Malcolm are also lovely and imo will age well. I think Alexander sounds the "strongest" out of the names listed, probably because of the association with Alexander the Great.

The only one that I would suggest you steer clear of is Jackson. It sounds very American and trendy. It's not a bad name but definitely not the classic sound you're looking for.

I would say that only Alexander and Benjamin are true classics.

Malcolm and Simon are definitely the most uncommon at the moment and aren’t really in the same genre as Isaac.

Jackson is definitely “trendy” not classic.
