Just found out we are having a baby girl after two boys and I’m all into pretty girl names!! If you’d had a girl what would you have called her? Or what’s your favourite ever girl name?

OP posts:

Have 2 DSs.

A girl was always going to be Ella after Ella Fitzgerald - decided that as a teenager.

My little girl is called Orla, if I wasn't calling her Orla it was going to be Aria

I love the name Emerald but I don’t think I’d have ever been brave enough (or cool enough) to use it!

MozzarellaMonster · 31/05/2021 21:11

Robin

Two boys here now young adults I love Libby (my DS 2 would have been if a girl - still like it even after many years DS1 would have been Imogen) and I love Celeste, Cicely and Faith. My god daughters are Eve and Scarlett and I love both of those too

I have a really short name that you really can't do much with - in terms of nicknames or affectionate shortenings. Think "Sharon" that can only be shortened to Shaz or Shar.

We gave our DDs longer, more traditional names (mine is definitely a 50's name!) so that they can swap and change if they want to. So something like Margaret that can be Mags, Maggie, Meg, Peggy.

Charlotte,
Elizabeth
Victoria
Catherine
etc
Names with lots of options!

We had shortened versions for all of ours, but they and their friends came up with totally different versions once they hit secondary school. It's the friend's versions that have lasted into adulthood. Of course !
