Just that really, what do you all think of Cosmo (for a boy)?

Would also love any other suggestions for boys and girls. Others I like are Ludo, Alexis, Felix (boys) Astrid, Lois, Erin (girls)

Thanks!!

Cosmo is a great name! Strong and cool.

I don't like Felix at all as it's a well known cat food brand in the uk

pollywollydoodler · 31/05/2021 12:03

Les Dawson's Cosmo Smallpiece comes to mind....knickers, knackers, knockers...

anothernewtop · 31/05/2021 12:00

Cosmo is where I go for a buffet lunch in Aberdeen

KaptainKaveman · 31/05/2021 11:57

Astrid has too many unfortunate terrorist associations IMO.

Mydogisagentleman · 31/05/2021 11:56

Cosmo Smallpiece

KaptainKaveman · 31/05/2021 11:55

Alexis is a girl's name.

WildCherryBlossom · 31/05/2021 11:53

I really love Cosmo. DH firmly vetoed early on in first pregnancy. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I think it's great.

Xanadu58 · 31/05/2021 11:48

I'm reading a book at the moment and one of the characters is called Cosmo. Never heard it before but I do quite like it. Love Astrid for a girl too .

ElizabethTudor · 31/05/2021 11:42

As per a PP I really like Cosimo too.
Alexis is too feminine for me.
Ludo is marvellous!

Astrid is lovely.
Not so keen on Lois or Erin.

LaBellina · 31/05/2021 11:41

I like Cosimo.
Beautiful renaissance name.

Cosmo reminds me too much of the magazine or a cocktail. Felix is my favorite from your list of names.

KingPong · 31/05/2021 11:41

And it brings back lovely childhood memories of You&Me.

KingPong · 31/05/2021 11:40

Love it! Have it earmarked for a future dog name as I’m not having any more DC.

Parsley1234 · 31/05/2021 11:36

Love Cosmo
Also Ludo Xavier Cosimo Atticus

Icanflyhigh · 31/05/2021 11:19

It wouldn't be my first choice, largely as Cosmo is an all you can eat dining place here! Not the worst I've heard though.

LemonRoses · 31/05/2021 11:15

TatianaBis I must have been confusing it with the Johnson Catholic marriage thread.....still like Cosimo though. 😁

Marcipex · 31/05/2021 11:14

I like Cosmo.
After all I can hardly believe that Noah and Ezra are mainstream now. They sounded so odd at first.
Lois and Erin are lovely.
I don’t like Astrid-well I do, but it is Ass for short.

IsThePopeCatholic · 31/05/2021 11:10

I like your girls’ names but really dislike your boys’ names. To me they sound like wanker banker names.

MaMelon · 31/05/2021 11:00

It's OK, nothing special. Felix is the name of a cat, Ludo is a game and Alexis sounds v feminine. The girls names are OK - Astrid is the best of the 3.

TatianaBis · 31/05/2021 10:54

@LemonRoses

I really like the full name, Cosimo rather than thr diminutive version though. Cosmo for short is nice.
It’s not really a dim of Italian - the original Greek word is Kosmos.

Cosimo is simply an Italian variant.

TatianaBis · 31/05/2021 10:52

Cosmo is ace. A relation’s name - he gets lots of compliments.

Who the hell thinks of the nn of a shitty mag rather than ‘cosmos’, Ancient Greece and Italy?!

DotDotDotDotDot · 31/05/2021 09:41

I want to love the name Cosmo, it feels like quite a brave choice though and I think you have to be a certain type of family to pull it off. Felix is nice too and Erin & Lois are lovely for girls names. Alexis is a bit too close to Alexa so I probably wouldn’t go there. Maybe Hera or Juno for girls suggestions and Otis or Ivan for boys? Good luck.

Flymetothestars · 31/05/2021 09:03

Cosmo is lovely
I know a little boy with the name. Suits him great

newtb · 31/05/2021 07:59

Wasn't one of the Marks brothers Cosmo?

Divebar2021 · 31/05/2021 07:53

I like Cosmo... it’s a bit eccentric but in a good way. I don’t like any of your alternatives for boys I’m afraid. I love Astrid for the girls and would have chosen that for our DD but we have a surname beginning with A and the combination sound odd.

hopingtochangeeachtime · 31/05/2021 07:50

Nice change from all the ie ending names .. although Arlo is very similar and popular which is still nice. Milo is another nice o ending name.
