John James Preston was Mr Big on SATC.

Bad idea.

Namechangedlady · 30/05/2021 22:11

My initials are C J, and lots of people call me CJ. It's first and middle names though.

BourbonBiscuits20 · 30/05/2021 20:59

Jane and James work well as middle name options.

AdaColeman · 30/05/2021 20:32

Jeffrey Jake
Jason John
Jasper Joel
Jonathan Jeremy
Julian Jonty

Julia Jeanette
Jacquetta Joan
Jacqueline Judith

Jessica Jane

My son has a J name and is know as J (Jay?) by me and JJ by his friends. He has no other J in his name.

partyatthepalace · 30/05/2021 19:11

@Serpenta

I think JJ would work with a first and middle name beginning with J. For some reason that seems less cheesy to me than a double barreled first name.
John Joseph or Jeremiah James are classics

Jennifer Jane or Jennifer Jean

@itsgettingwierd

My ds is Thomas Joshua xxxxx and has been called TJ for years!

We recently met another TJ who is actually Thomas J

So I think if you want JJ you can go for first and middle name which would leave you more availability on names as they sound different non double barrelled in a lot of cases.

Examples

Jessica Jane
Johnathan James
Jessie Jay

Jessica Jamelia
Jamie Jessica
Joshua Joseph

Etc

Make sense x

@IamnotwhouthinkIam

I agree that going for a J first name and a J middle would be nicest imo (rather than hyphenating). You've had some lovely suggestions - my personal fave's are James, John, Jonathan, Jared, Jane, Julia, Juliet, Jocelyn and Josephine. If you like more unusual names I'd also add the elegant Jessamine for a girl and Irish Jarlath for a boy.
Love these x

Jolyon Jack

BikeRunSki · 30/05/2021 07:17

I’m once worked with a girl called Josephine Joan
(First and middle names), known as Jojo, but could just as easily been JJ. I also know a child called Jacob John (after his grandfathers), known as JJ.

monthin · 30/05/2021 07:16

I know someone who's just called Jay...and nn JJ

TatianaBis · 30/05/2021 07:14

Any J name can have the nn JJ. Doesn’t need to be hyphenated or even a middle name.

JemimaJoy · 30/05/2021 05:29

Also Cornish Jago and Spanish Jacinta have nice sounds to me.
