If we have a boy my partner wants to name him after his grandfather which means Terry or Terence.

I'm really not keen, but it would mean so much to him and the more I hear it the more I get used to it, but the people I have spoken with are horrified!

Is it as bad as I and my friends think? Do I need to just hope it's a girl?

Terry for a girl sounds nice.

I quite like it as a boys name too. Terence Stamp... gorgeous when younger snd still incredibly handsome!

Too dated I think. It's too modern to be a traditional or old man's name making a comeback. It's more of a Brian, Kevin or Keith kind of name. It'll probably be another generation or 2 before those names will sound ok.

It's fine, but if you don't love it, then a middle name would be sensible.
Your DH doesn't get to make the final decision.

I would go for middle name OP

Neolara · 23/05/2021 08:40

I think it's awful. Sorry.

I like it but it was my lovely dad's name. What about Terry or Teri for a girl?

spookycookies · 23/05/2021 08:31

I think it's cute. It's a recognised name and much better than all the made up/wrongly spelt names most people ask about on here.

Middle name

Temp023 · 23/05/2021 08:30

Not so bad, could be due a comeback?

JackieWeaverFever · 23/05/2021 08:29

Middle name at best.

Terry is up there with Baby Keith. (Sorry)

TheVolturi · 23/05/2021 08:28

I think it's ok!

Maybe as a middle name?

I'm not sure why this is in the pregnancy section, could have sworn I put it in baby names. I've reported it so hopefully it will get moved. Sorry, clearly I can't work the app!
