I am expecting my little miracle baby in December and have dived deep into baby names... for a girl I'm adamant I love Bonnie do you think it would be weird to put my first name as her middle name? I know sometimes the fathers do it but I haven't heard of the mothers first name as the babies middle name
It would make her name,...

Bonnie Hope 💕

Don't even know the gender yet but excitement is taking over first pregnancy and all😁💕

Bonnie is not my taste (too nickname sounding), but I do think it's fine to use a parents first name for a child's middle name - I know quite a few families who have done this with their DC (for daughters as well as sons).

NotSoFlatStanley · 21/05/2021 19:34

Congratulations! Love it! Bonnie is a fab name (imho) and Hope is perfect for your miracle pregnancy. Good luck!

ThatIsMyPotato · 21/05/2021 19:24

Ooh it's nice. Like Connie

RaraRachael · 21/05/2021 19:14

I'm Scottish and Bonnie seems a funny name to me. I wouldn't call a baby Pretty Grin

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 21/05/2021 19:05

I do not like the name Bonnie but it's wrong to say it's primarily a nickname. It absolutely is used as a name in its own right.

I also think it flows well with Hope, though I'm not specially keen on either.

partyatthepalace · 21/05/2021 18:59

Your name as middle name - yes, sure - it’s not unusual.

Bonnie is sweet but it is really a nick name. The Bonnie I know is really Isabella - so maybe that, or Annabel or Arabella would work?

therocinante · 21/05/2021 15:04

I love the name Bonnie! Congratulations ☺️

OllyBJolly · 21/05/2021 15:03

I know three Bonnies, none of whom know each other. Every one of them is a fabulous woman. Great name.

pantherrose · 21/05/2021 14:38

Bonnie was on my list had my son been a girl. Great choice OP, it’s a gorgeous name!

Teesdale2622 · 21/05/2021 14:26

Bonnie is a beautiful name Smile

Hope is lovely. I've known several dogs called Bonnie so not that keen.

CatsPyjama · 21/05/2021 13:58

Works really well. I know two little Bonnies.

Bonnie was the name of our last dog. She was beautiful!

SoapboxFox · 21/05/2021 09:22

It reminds me of squeaky-voiced Bonnie Langford so am not particularly keen. She isn't much heard of these days though.

Quercus3 · 21/05/2021 09:19

How funny, we have a Bonnie Hope, born 6 weeks ago 😊! Congratulations on your miracle baby 💛 we've had lots of compliments on her name (although people don't tend to share negative opinions so freely in real life as they do online!)

Viviennemary · 21/05/2021 09:07

Not keen on Bonnie. Its a nickname I'd say. Not a proper name.

DuggeeHugPlease · 21/05/2021 09:04

It's a nice name, I know one Bonnie in her 30s and one who is 4 and it suits them both.

NinaMimi · 21/05/2021 08:56

I think people spend too much time fretting over middle names. Most people won’t know it. I have no issue with mum’s name as middle name.

I’m Scottish so Bonnie always seems a weird name to me - even though lots of baby name sites say it’s a Scottish name.

lottiegarbanzo · 21/05/2021 08:07

It's a lovely sentiment but a nickname that to many people's ears sounds like a dog's name.

I'd think it was a nn for something, maybe Ebony.

You could use it as a nn, whatever her actual name. 'My bonnie baby / wee bonnie lass' etc.

The middle name idea is fine, it's not a common thing to do but I know people who have done that.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 21/05/2021 07:12

Congratulations! It's a lovely name Smile

Scarby9 · 21/05/2021 06:38

I have my mother's first name as my middle name.

AnyaMoondial · 21/05/2021 06:25

Bonnie Hope is a pretty brilliant name I must say.

Peachbubble · 21/05/2021 06:12

I like it.

FrozenVag · 21/05/2021 04:36

What if she is not bonny?

Same reason I didn’t use Grace - quite wisely as it turned out😂
