Hi guys, we are looking for a middle name for Scarlett but stuck for ideas. We want something traditional and maybe quite short or simple. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Elizabeth

Don’t mind the Violet Eliz ref! But if you do perhaps Abigail, Eleanor, Rosalind - something with weight and tradition.

@merryhouse

I think you're all thinking of Elizabeth because of Violet Elizabeth Grin

What about Ruth?

Yes, that occurred to me too. I still think it's the best option though!Grin

Scarlett Catherine

I was going to suggest Scarlett Elizabeth too, as it has the same rhythm as Violet Elizabeth.
( Violet Elizabeth Bott was the spoilt little girl who often threatened to “sthcream thill sthe was sthick” from the William books by Richmal Crompton.)

I think if the middle name starts with a vowel, it's easier to make sure you pronounce the t sound at the end of Scarlett. If it starts with a consonant, it's a bit stumbly, or dropped altogether.

For example Scarlett Elizabeth is easier to pronounce than Scarlett Jane.

Funnily enough my first though was Elizabeth too!

Stay away from Rose, Grace and May. Every second baby girl has one of them these days.
