Stuck between two girls names

DeeDeeMcF · 17/05/2021 11:10

I'm due in a matter of days and completely stuck between two names for my baby girl!

The middle name is a family name so I am at least fixed on that.

What do you prefer out of

Rose Florence
Annie Florence

Our surname starts with Mc.. (3 syllables)

Thoughts greatly welcomed before I go into labour!

Anna is more classic and then you can call her Annie if you like.

Rose reminds me of an old lady

Annie McOnetwo is fab.

dinglebelles · 18/05/2021 17:45

Annie

JemimaJoy · 18/05/2021 17:44

Annie Florence sounds great!

Spied · 17/05/2021 19:43

Rose.
Had it been Anna instead of Annie then I'd have said Anna definitely.

partyatthepalace · 17/05/2021 19:40

Anna Florence nn Annie

That way she gets the option of the elegant Anna or the jolly Anna (same as Rose/Rosie).
Anna and Rose equally lovely, but Rose and it’s variations have been heavily used for a long time, Anna only recently more recently popular, so sounds fresher.

Foxglovers · 17/05/2021 19:29

I love Rose!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/05/2021 17:57

Rose Florence - no contest for me. Elegant and classic name. Annie is cute but I'd assume it's a nn for Anne, Anna, Antonia etc.

emmathedilemma · 17/05/2021 17:30

Annie (unless there's any risk she might have red curly hair!)

Standrewsschool · 17/05/2021 16:04

You don’t have to decide before your dc is born. Why don’t you wait until you meet and then decide which name suits her most.

Alternatively, toss a coin. Before it lands, you’ll know which name you actually prefer, as you’ll be hoping it lands on that choice.

BramStoker · 17/05/2021 15:55

I like both Rose and Annie so I would just choose whichever you prefer and/or sounds best with your surname

I wouldn't get too hung up on which sounds best with Florence as she will rarely be called her full name anyway

If I was pushed to make a choice I would probably go Annie as it is a little more unusual at the moment

bdd2017 · 17/05/2021 15:53

I like both names, my fave is Annie. But, I think Rose Mc... Flows best. I really don't think you can go wrong with either.

RickOShay · 17/05/2021 15:50

Rose

BorderlineHappy · 17/05/2021 15:45

I prefer Florence Rose.
But I'd wait till she's here, maybe a different name will suit her.

BlossomD · 17/05/2021 15:42

Annie

Edenember · 17/05/2021 15:41

Rose Florence

MercyBodle · 17/05/2021 12:54

I love both names, and both seem to work perfectly well with the surname. Annie Florence is a better combo than Rose Florence, but Rose Florence is still fine.
I slightly prefer Rose as a first name, and slightly prefer Annie Florence as the whole name, so not much help here!

AnyaMoondial · 17/05/2021 12:45

I love Annie.
Rose, Rosie Rosa etc plus all the hyphen-rose names are hugely popular at the moment, they all get a bit muddled together.

Goodtohear · 17/05/2021 12:41

Prefer Annie but don't like it shortened to Ann, therefore I'd go with Rose. I actually think all 3 are beautiful names.

TheFairyCaravan · 17/05/2021 12:21

Annie

TatianaBis · 17/05/2021 12:21

Rose despite its ubiquity. Annie is a bit twee.

RuthW · 17/05/2021 12:19

Rose

namechangemarch21 · 17/05/2021 12:08

Annie. Annie is fun, and adventurous, and says what she thinks. Rose is restrained, refined, and lives a much smaller life.

They're my name prejudices, born out a bit by some real-life acquaintances.

KirstenBlest · 17/05/2021 12:07

Annie
