Naming my daughter Atlas?

I’m really starting to love Atlas for a little girl. Originally this was our boy name, and I still love it for a boy too. Could we use it for either gender? Big sister is Aurora.
Aurora and Atlas as sisters?

Yes I like it, put it this way it’s a name you won’t forget in a hurry .
I have one child, a girl and always wanted to have another but it never happened but I had the name all picked out if I had a boy.
I would of called him Jet .

Flowers500 · 12/05/2021 00:27

It’s a very male name in my mind

Enough4me · 12/05/2021 00:26

I really can't see Atlas for a girl. I'd compare it to using John for a girl.
Atlanta would be a lovely name though.

Antigone?

partyatthepalace · 12/05/2021 00:23

Atlas is a bruiser who carries the world on his back, so no - you might as well call her Hercules

Aster, Astra, Astrid...

bluebell34567 · 12/05/2021 00:22

not for me either. imagine calling 'Atlaaas'. sounds weird.

timeisnotaline · 12/05/2021 00:21

It is absolutely a boys name. Also, I’d expect lots of Ayn Rand jokes. Although maybe you’re a huge fan already.

Geordieoldgirl · 12/05/2021 00:18

It’s just my opinion, but it seems very masculine for a girl. Have you thought about Atlanta ? Slightly similar to Atlas, but definitely a girl’s name.

dollypartonshirspray · 12/05/2021 00:18

Not for me

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/05/2021 00:18

How about Atlanta, or Athena?

LittleBearPad · 12/05/2021 00:13

I think it’s a boys name. It doesn’t translate well to a girl.

OppsUpsSide · 12/05/2021 00:12

I think it is definitely a boys name, but if you want to use it go for it

rbetty · 12/05/2021 00:12

I love it

Scarby9 · 12/05/2021 00:10

I have met two child Atlases
One male, one female.
I still have a mental picture of a burly man holding up the world, however.
