Maxwell or Maximilian?

I like just Max but partner is insisting the baby will need a full proper name if it’s a boy.

Or any other variations of Max! I really like Maxim but the dirty mag associations Sad

Macsen is Welsh and Maxton is an old name. Probably comes from a surname originally.

Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it's made up Hmm

@SeasonFinale Macsen is the Welsh name for Magnus Maximus, and not made up or 'YooNique'.

I wouldn't use it if there is no Welsh connection, because it is MACS-enn not Maxon.

I too have a Max with no longer version. I do love Maximilian but it would have been ridiculous with our surname. Really not keen on Maxwell. If Maximilian is a good fit with your surname, I’d choose that over Maxwell.

Never really considered having to have a longer version tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️ We have a longer surname so Max seemed to work well with that 😊

Maximilian is DH favourite boys name, neither of our DS’ are named Maximilian, as we had a dog in the family called Max.

Maxim is a bit slimey, Maxwell makes me think of cheap coffee and is a bit naff - Maximus is quite nice though

Maximilian. Maxim is just short for that isn’t it?

Maxwell is a surname and makes me think of Robert and Ghislaine Maxwell (and yes I know it wasn’t Robert’s birth name).

Max is also fine on its own though.

My son who is now 23 is a Maximillian, prefer it to Maxwell, Max for short x

Max is a name on its own. I like neither Maximilian nor Maxwell but love Max.
