Thinking of names for dc2. Dd1 is Alice.

Margot
Dorothy (am I nuts or is this pretty and due a comeback?)
Charlotte
Lilly/Lillian
Juliet

William
Felix
Raphael

Also any other suggestions? Dh sadly vetoed Evelyn.

Love Margot with Alice. Would also suggest Rosa or matilda

IslandLulu · 09/05/2021 10:11

Margot - lovely
Dorothy - don't like
Charlotte - lovely
Lilly/Lillian - gorgeous
Juliet - love this
Freya - nice
Rose - beautiful

William - love this name
Felix - ok
Raphael - no

Edenember · 09/05/2021 09:43

Freya, Rose, Margot and Dorothy are all lovely (be prepared for Dorothy to get Dot and Dottie). From your boys names I like Raphael.

partyatthepalace · 09/05/2021 09:02

Dorothy is definitely coming back! - also Dorothea which I slightly prefer. Dot and Dorey both lovely nns.

Margot is fun - as pp says Alice and Margot is a lovely combo. It’s much fresher than Alice and Charlotte, but that is a tried and tested combo.

Lillian will just end up Lily which I think is wet. Juliet is nice but a bit fussy for me. Freya I like but I don’t think it combines well with Alice.

Other thoughts - Edith, Beatrice (Bea), Stella, Frances, Phoebe, Elspeth, Violet, Louisa, Caroline, Serena, Helena, Marianne

I find Raphael and Felix quite fussy names. Rufus, Francis (nn Frank), Patrick, Nathaniel nn Nate, Maximilian nn Max, Nicholas nn Nico, Miles/Milo, Joshua, Noah, Hector,

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/05/2021 21:07

Lily (this spelling is more intuitive imo), Rose, Charlotte and William have a timeless classic/traditional feel like Alice so work well to me. I love Juliet but it doesn't feel quite as classic as similar Julia imo (Juliet still sounds good with Alice though).

The others I do quite like but they are either more trendy/contemporary sounding imo or very retro/vintage (but I really dislike Dorothy, sorry!)

pushchairprincess · 07/05/2021 16:41

Charlotte (Lottie/Charlie - you can do so much with this name)
William - just such a on-trend boys name

Threelittlebirds1 · 07/05/2021 16:39

I like all of your girls names except Dorothy (but I do like Dorothea suggested by pp) my favourite is Lily (prefer this spelling), but it's bound to get a bad reaction on here as it's so popular, saying that I don't know any baby Lilly/Lily/Lillians.
My next choice would be Charlotte followed by Freya. My suggestion with Alice would be Clara.

Love Felix, William is a good match, less keen on Raphael.

Flymetothestars · 07/05/2021 16:26

Margot - love
Dorothy - love
Charlotte - love
Lilly/Lillian - love Lily
Juliet - don't like Jules nickname and don't like Juliet either to be honest

William - love
Felix - love
Raphael - too frilly, not keen

yikesanotherbooboo · 07/05/2021 14:24

I love Dorothy
I'm a bit tired of Lily
I'm not keen on Margot and there are a lot around.
I prefer Rosa and Rosalind /Rosamund to Rose
Not a fan of Freya

AnxiousAnnie86 · 07/05/2021 14:05

@Pantheon I know a Dorothy snd they call her Dotty! I love love love it! x

emmathedilemma · 07/05/2021 10:51

Alice & Margot is great, they sound like they'd be great fun duo!
I think Dorothy / Dot / Dotty deserves a come back.
Alice & Charlotte is safe, likewise Alice & William.
I'm not keen on Lily and Juliet, I don't think they really work with Alice.
Alice & Felix is quite cool.
I don't like Raphael (I think it's a legacy of growing up in the teenage mutant ninja turtles era!)

ILoveShula · 07/05/2021 10:49

Freya - overused. Frey isn't nice
Rose - ok but so boring as a middle name
Lydia is nice - yes. Lydie is sweet. Don't like Lyds.

MercyBodle · 07/05/2021 10:33

I love Juliet and Rose, and I like Dorothy (and yes it's back).

I love all 3 of your boys' names, and all would work well.

AdaColeman · 07/05/2021 10:14

I'm not keen on Margot at all, though it is popular. What about Marguerite, that would go beautifully with Alice.

I like Freya a lot, but Rose is far too popular. Juliet is lovely, but I'm not too keen on Lily.

Felix is a great name and the only one of your boys list that I like.

ILoveShula · 07/05/2021 10:02

Margot - not keen, has become popular very quickly so will date. No.
Dorothy (am I nuts or is this pretty and due a comeback?) - lovely
Charlotte - safe classic, goes well with Alice
Lilly/Lillian - Lily is nice but overused. No to both.
Juliet - nice but dislike the Julie-ETTE way some say it and dislike Jules as a nn. No.

William - ok
Felix - not keen
Raphael - dislike.

MyPanda · 07/05/2021 09:50

Dorothy is my favourite. I also like Freya.

CakesOfVersailles · 07/05/2021 09:49

Although actually I know two sibling sets with Alice and Charlotte so I guess that is a good combo too!

CakesOfVersailles · 07/05/2021 09:49

I like all your names, although I would spell it Lily with one L unless her name was Lillian on the birth certificate.

I like Dorothy, Juliet and William best with Alice from your list.

TatianaBis · 07/05/2021 09:45

Like Margot and Raphael (but Margot is very over popular). Lily is two a penny.

Also like Raphaella for a girl.

Chilldonaldchill · 07/05/2021 09:12

Margot - nice. Increasingly popular. Works with Alice
Dorothy (am I nuts or is this pretty and due a comeback?) - I think it's already there. No one would bat an eyelid around here at hearing about a baby Dorothy. It's ok. I prefer Dorothea personally
Charlotte - the safe option. It's lovely but Alice and Charlotte sound very "typical" together
Lilly/Lillian - boring and overdone. Also with two Ls it would be very annoying
Juliet - this is mentioned so often on Mumsnet I think it must be having a revival. I like it and think it goes well with Alice
Freya - nice. Very popular a few years ago (my children, now late teens were at school with about 6) but maybe less so now
Rose - gorgeous as a first name

William - the equivalent of Charlotte. Your "safe choice"
Felix - lovely
Raphael - lovely

I would pick Rose or Juliet. I also like Imogen with Alice.
Felix and Raphael are both gorgeous with Alice. I can't pick between them.

DotDotDotDotDot · 07/05/2021 09:03

Rose, Rosa and Juliet are all beautiful for girls first names. I like all your boys suggestions, perhaps Raphael is my favourite.

sarah13xx · 07/05/2021 08:53

Margot or Charlotte for a girl I’d say

Felix seems to be becoming really popular on posts on here but I do love it

Pantheon · 07/05/2021 08:33

@VenusClapTrap That's good to know! I don't know any little Dorothys
