What names do you like but you have only ever met one of before?

My sister is pregnant for the first time at 43 and wants an unusual but real name and wants some inspiration.

I named my own after only once ever hearing someone called the name.

There was a Rowan (girl) at my school. Love that name.

I've also only ever known one Demelza, Sadie, Monica, Ffion, Alix, Alexis, Penny, Bryn, Faye, Hester, Morgan, Tiggy.

I also met a baby called Percy about three years ago, which I personally think is adorable but won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Lise - I assumed it was a nn but was her actual ‘given’ name.

Bianca - only met one at my dancing class many, many years ago.

Granville - was someone my parents knew.

Keeley - my old hairdresser, never met another before or since.

@namcybotwinbloom

My grandads brother was called Septimus. He was the 7th child of one of seven.

Not sure if that's why he was called Septimus.

I love it.

Tell me you're joking, you seriously think that a 7th child called Septimus was a happy co-incidence Shock

Agree that this thread just shows that it depends on who you know and where you live- the fact people think Bryn, Angharad and Llewellyn are incredibly unusual names when they are very normal in Wales. Same with seamus! I'm not even Irish and I know a few!

I knew a young lad named Bonar (pronouncer "bonn-er"). Never heard of that name otherwise. Apparently its a Scottish name, and also rather an unfortunate name to have.
