What names do you like but you have only ever met one of before?

My sister is pregnant for the first time at 43 and wants an unusual but real name and wants some inspiration.

I named my own after only once ever hearing someone called the name.

Berendean. A (female) friend of an elderly aunt.

WithASpider · 04/05/2021 14:05

Dd1. She's the only one in England with her name in at least the last 17 years.

There are a fair few spelt with the -yn ending (pronounced -in), hers is -en. Still uncommon though!

Dd2's name has appeared several times on this list.

My colleague's sister is called Demelza. Their mum loved the books, so you can probably guess his name!

My mum is named after her grandmother - Janetta. Never met another.

My daughter's are mentioned above although they're not out there names at all, just ones that provide good flexibility for nicknames and whatnot.

Went to uni with Odette, and my children go to nursery with:
Autumn
Lachlan
Artemis (girl)

Heard Wednesday being called in the park too, which I thought was too cool for me to use!

Our friendship group has an: Otto, ludo, Thor, Milo, Roman. All drew an 'oh!' at first, but everyone is used to them now.
