What names do you like but you have only ever met one of before?

My sister is pregnant for the first time at 43 and wants an unusual but real name and wants some inspiration.

I named my own after only once ever hearing someone called the name.

Steve - only ever taught one
David - know of one under 50
Mark - ditto
John - ditt0

You've only ever met one of these each Shock I know at least 5 Steves and have come across more than 20. Same with Mike and David.

They may be older now, but there are SO many.

I'm.amazed at some of the names people are saying they've only ever met one of. I can't quite believe someone has only ever come across one Caroline in her life, for example. Two of my closest friends are called Caroline and I know several more through work, neighbours, the gym etc.

However, some names are definitely of an age/era. I'm in my 50s and have a name that was incredibly popular in the late 60s and early 70s. There were 3 of us in my class at school. However, no children in England and Wales have been given that name in the last two years. It's obviously fallen out of fashion. I guess if you're in your 20s and only socialise with your age group and don't work it would be possible to not come across my name.

DDs middle name was chosen because I'd only met one. and at the time
it struck me as a fantastic name. The registrar questioned it, when we registered her birth, so I guess it's the first one she'd encountered. I've since met quite a few, and have discovered it's VERY popular in another country Grin
