Names to go with this surname?

Hello Smile

I'm expecting DC1 currently and don't yet know the sex. DH and I can't put our finger on any stand out names just yet and would love some help!

Baby's surname will be Rose, so no floral girl names, or anything that could sound like a scented candle Grin and for boys we just would like something that flows well and doesn't sound too "soft" with the surname.

All help very welcome! Smile

Love the Sylvie Rose suggestion. I don't know if the R at the end of Arthur runs into Rose a bit.

Henry Rose?
Edward Rose?
William Rose?
Wilfred Rose?
Alfred Rose?
Frederick Rose?

Xanthe Rose?
Cecily Rose?
Verity Rose?
Claudia Rose?
Juliet Rose?
Josephine Rose?

Haha @Wrongnamegame4 I liked Rory but discounted it because of having too many R sounds - but Wowy Wose would sound pretty adorable in a toddler voice Grin

@ThatIsMyPotato we both like Albie and debated whether Albert as the full name would be better with Albie as a NN 🧐

I wouldn't use an R first name, in case your child has a lisp.Wink

ThatIsMyPotato · 02/05/2021 19:42

Albert Rose sounds nice

Demi Rose for a girl?

turnthepage · 02/05/2021 19:30

@TatianaBis no, I don't.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions so far Smile

Beckett Rose

This is a surname with a surname and could cause confusion, sometimes companies swap order of names and you could end up finding your female Rose Beckett

TatianaBis · 02/05/2021 19:08

Do you not have a book OP?

ShoppingPrecinctPrincess · 02/05/2021 18:59

Arthurs abound. So many of them.

turnthepage · 02/05/2021 18:54

Aww love Polly too!

Is Arthur too popular? I do really like it and so does DH, but don't want DC to be one of 4 in class in school. Also is Remy Rose too short/punchy?

My maiden surname is a fairly plain, 2 syllable name that we plan on using as a middle name rather than a double-barrel surname, so we still want (first name) Rose which he/she will generally go by to flow well Smile

SelkieFly · 02/05/2021 18:36

Rowan Rose doesn't work because of the ro ro
but Robbie Rose has a certain alliteration to it that I really like!

Saltyslug · 02/05/2021 18:36

Got to be Axel rose for a boy

SelkieFly · 02/05/2021 18:33

What's the pattern of your surname your surname? Would it sound a bit abrupt paired with Rose?
If you were to add in your surname that could give you more leeway?

turnthepage · 02/05/2021 18:33

@ShoppingPrecinctPrincess yeah that's what we thought, I think it's the "ro ro" sound that makes it a bit much! I should've kept my maiden name, it was much plainer Grin

OP posts:
ShoppingPrecinctPrincess · 02/05/2021 18:32

Rowan Rose is a bit tongue-twistery and a bit like 'no one knows'

turnthepage · 02/05/2021 18:31

@BramStoker yep I spend my life correcting people on that issue at work, or they think it's a double-barrel first name!

Oooh Lucinda, Penelope, Annabel and Lydia are going to be touted to DH this evening!
