It’s up there with Shay in sheer awfulness. I really wouldn’t.

If you want something short beginning with J - Joel, Jude, Jesse, Jethro, Jerome, Joss, Jonah, Jonas, Joseph, John... etc

raskolnikova · 01/05/2021 12:07

They recently put Teen Mom 2 on Netflix, so yeah, another one here who thinks of that.

StevieNix · 01/05/2021 08:48

It’s terrible and so chavvy

Onlinedilema · 01/05/2021 08:37

I’d also assume a nick name for Jason. I’ve always liked Jason.

user1493494961 · 01/05/2021 08:33

Awful, Jason's not much better.

GreyhoundG1rl · 30/04/2021 20:06

I knew a Jas once, which is apparently short for James. Whenever I heard it I thought why not James? Why only half of it?!

It doesn't even sound particularly pleasant. Too hissy.

imgoinginsaneinthemembrane · 30/04/2021 20:01

@Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep like the tree !

IggyAce · 30/04/2021 19:53

I know of a Jace he’ll be around 16 now, I personally don’t like it.

ActonBell · 30/04/2021 19:07

I didn’t mean I thought it was pronounced Jake. I meant that sometimes nicknames don’t replicate all the sounds in the original name. So, I know a Caroline who goes by Caz, and a James who goes by Jake.

The suggestion was you could still have Jace with the soft c as the nickname but if you didn’t like Jason you could go for Jacob as the full name. It’s unusual but not that odd as a nickname and with Jacob you also have loads of other nicknames to choose from later in life.

miltonj · 30/04/2021 19:02

Love Jason. I'm not keen on just jace at all, it just doesn't seem complete somehow.

MargosKaftan · 30/04/2021 18:48

If you are pronouncing it Jase, id assume he was really Jason. If you are pronouncing it Jake, then I'd assume it was spelt Jake.

What is it that appeals?

Would you consider Jason, and nickname Jace to give him options? I haven't met any little Jason's. It might be one of those names you want to find, both unique and not so weird he always has to spell it out to call centres.

PattyPan · 30/04/2021 18:46

Also makes me think of poor Jace from Teen Mom. I felt so sorry for that kid.
My relative named her kid Jace too and there were many raised eyebrows.

GreyhoundG1rl · 30/04/2021 18:33

It'll be assumed that it's short for Jason, however much people argue this. I can just hear Trace, short for Tracey in a cockney accent.

Awful.

Chewbecca · 30/04/2021 18:31

Not good.

Sarcobaleno · 30/04/2021 18:30

I'm sorry to be harsh but it's really completely awful

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 30/04/2021 18:29

@RickOShay

I like it Smile Also like Acer
Like the laptops?
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 30/04/2021 18:29

It's awful. A naff nickname for Jason.

RickOShay · 30/04/2021 18:24

I like it Smile
Also like Acer

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 30/04/2021 18:22

Nobody thinks it's a misspelled Jake Hmm
It's fine op

GreyhoundG1rl · 30/04/2021 17:57

@imgoinginsaneinthemembrane

Even Ace would be better or Acer
I don't think so.
BackforGood · 30/04/2021 17:54

Awful

If I heard it called out in the park or somewhere, I'd assume it was just short for Jason (I'm assuming it is said, to rhyme with ace ?). I'm not keen on the name Jason, but that is at least a recognised name.

RunningFromInsanity · 30/04/2021 17:38

I like it, it’s always been a contender for me.
(Another fan of mortal instruments series)

imgoinginsaneinthemembrane · 30/04/2021 17:29

Even Ace would be better or Acer

MunchyCat · 30/04/2021 17:23

Teen mom.

Lightningrain · 30/04/2021 17:22

Anyone that’s seen Teen Mom will immediately think of Jenelle and her mother. Not a good association!

I do know a Jason known as Jase but it’s probably a bit 1980’s.
